| ![]() It doesn't do any harm to my yorkies brushing them after I blow dry them after their bathes. So I think that is what I am going to keep doing. I don't notice any hair loss after the brushing.

| ![]() do what works for you. I think it is more of a "rule" so to say if you want to maintain a show coat. and I have heard the phrase since day 1..."Don't brush a dry coat". but everyone has their own preference. I am certainly not trying to tell you how to maintain your dogs. I was just curious about the combing thing...wondering if I had read it right ... and what the reason was behind it.

| ![]() I only use a comb on Tessa regardless of whether her hair is wet or dry! Sometimes I use a detangler and sometimes not, depending on how I want her to smell! ( One has baby powder smell, one has a fruity smell) She IS only 6mths and her coat is fairly short but all this combing, brushing, drying, wet.......it is all so confusing to a newbie Yorkie parent! ![]() ![]()

![]() As for the combing when wet. I do know that Yorkie hair very closely resembles that of a human. Human hair, because it is made of protein, is weak when wet, so combing it makes it more susceptible to breakage, as opposed to doing so when it is slightly damp. Conditioner reduces the risk of damage, because less hair is lost from inadvertent tugging. Lauren
