| ![]() I think this is my fault because I checked out www.Alex'sYorkieCare, and she said never to brush a dry coat. So I posted a question and got many different opinions. Tricksie is 19 months old and I brush her every day and see very little hair and never mats. I brush her before a bath, blow dry and brush again. My groomer has been in the business for a long time and she told me that I was doing the right thing. So many different opinions can be confusing. Tricksie is not a show dog and that makes a difference, also the groomer told me to get silicone spray.

| ![]() I am sure that you will get a lot of different opinions. But I am sticking with what I am doing.

| ![]() I comb Momiji after spray the detangler/deodorant. She smells good after about 3 minutes???? And I find it easier to comb her when her hair is little wet. Lose hair aren't flouting around as much either!!! |

| ![]() I use Buddy Splas from Cloud Star to dampen the coat - great product filled with herbs & natural conditioners. I also believe in investing in a good pin brush & comb. I love the chris christensen 20mm gold pin brush. yes, do not brush a dry coat, you may not realize the damage you are doing to the coat. I think the think about combing out the coat, is not to do it when your dog is immediately from the tub, as you can stretch the hair, causing damage. go about 1/2 way down the page for some great info: http://www.chrissystems.com/grooming.htm This is great too - http://www.ytca.org/grooming.html Mandee, this one even addressed different types of yorkie coats http://members.cox.net/jrogan/care.html one last good site: http://crownroyalyorkies.com/basic_grooming.htm

| ![]() I was told by "dry" coat it means one that has absolutely no conditioner, etc. I put bio-groom on my dogs when I shampoo them, so they don't actually have a "dry" coat. That's what my breeder told me.

Chris Christensen has Ice on Ice Mandee said she uses Paul Mitchell's dog line product I know there are others. I definitely believe in using a product made for the dog rather than humans
