As for the combing when wet. I do know that Yorkie hair very closely resembles that of a human. Human hair, because it is made of protein, is weak when wet, so combing it makes it more susceptible to breakage, as opposed to doing so when it is slightly damp. Conditioner reduces the risk of damage, because less hair is lost from inadvertent tugging.
