Strange that he went from a perfect sweetie pie that loved to cuddle with Bandit to a vicious dog...I suggest you dont try to take things out of his mouth...try exchanging what he has for something better like food..or a toy that is acceptable to chew on..you really need to give this dog time to adjust to your household..4 days he has gone from vicious to sweet...to vicious again..he is new and you have to stay consistent. Howling is normal and not him trying to run the household..it just sounds like he is scared and lost..he lived with someone else for 5 months of course he is scared and unsure..

i know it is scary to think the dog will bite you...but you have to show him you are not scared..even if you are. they can sense these things and he knows he can get away with that behavior. if he is only 5.5 months old, he is still very young and needs to be taught to be submissive to you. when he does that, quickly grab him, put him on his back and secure him so he cannot bite you. then get as close to his face as you feel comfortable with and just repeat NO NO NO NO until he gives in. and you WILL have to do it several times. I seriously doubt he will learn immediately..you have to be consistent. and each and every time he gets an attitude...on his back he goes.

and no...you will not get bashed on here for asking this kind of advice. now...if you said you want to beat him with a belt...then yes, you would get a lot of negativity..but you have come here looking for help, and that is what you shall get

good luck at the trainers. I agree....this is a very important thing with aggressive dogs...you need a good, professional trainer that can show you how to correct this.

Thank you so very much for your KIND and caring and postitive post. Yes, I did get up just not in his face and he eye balls ME LOL. It is like a battle right now. I just left a message for the trainer to call me she is very good and trains many dogs for German obedience and agility competitions.

I have never had that problem with Bandit as I raised him from 11 weeks old. I will post the email reply the breeder sent me and I am just shocked to death

That is what I am trying to do, stop both from being boss over each other, because to me, if one becomes so dominant it means he has assumed leadership and this little devil is doing just that.

But I love this little dog, with scooby it was Bandit not liking him, but bandit likes this dog and has not humped nor growled or acted mean to him. with scoby and bandit there was constant bickering between the two of them. I do not show Bandit any more love than I do this new dog. I groom, cuddle, pet, hold the same way I do bandit. the little devil is just very dominant

Here is the reply I received this morning from the breeder when I wrote to him about Devil


Dear XXXXXX
I don't explain this aggressibe behaviour. He always was a very nice
dog with both humans and other animals but I spoil him. His 2 sisters were much more dominant and aggressive.
I'm breeding dogs for 34 years and it is the first time I have such
problems with a single puppy, But all you say must be true because you
had dogs your all life.
Can you give me the adress of your vet ? I want to write him a letter
and then give the answer to my vet, so he can give me his opinion.
His sister who is in Paris has no problems and her owners are delighet
with her, and they are young people who never had a dog but he go there as baby.
Now I think it is the best he has to be euthanasied I don't want this in my breeding.
Please give me the adress of your vet

Have you tried exchanging for what in his mouth for another toy or a treat..keep playing the "exchange" game until he WANTS to give you whats in his mouth...make it a game...postitive re-enfocement always works great. He is just a puppy yet and should learn that game very quickly..

It sounds to me like the breeder mentioned euthanizing the dog in order to scare you into keeping him. He just says it so nonchalant like.... I guess we have to kill the dog then. He said that he wants to euthanize the dog because he "doesn't want this in his breeding". What does aggression in one puppy have to do with his breeding program? Someone who has been breeding dogs for 34 yrs. must have a bit more knowledge than this, and if not, then he isn't a very good breeder. Don't fall for his manipulative tactics. Obviously you want to keep the dog and work with him. I don't believe for a second that he would put the puppy down, simply because an owner is having trouble with him.

If you're not using him to breed, then he wouldn't be in his breeding program.

I dont know of a good breeder that would condone putting down a pup before obediance training or seeing it themselves first hand.
