| I would not allow a Pit in my home or yard. It is not the breeds fault..it is the fault of the breeder and owners...most have no clue what breeding and owning a Pit Bull entails...too many come from mills and BYBer's. If you get a crazy Yorkie, you will wind up with a few bite marks on your hand or ankle some times..if you have a crazy Pit, you can wind up badly injured or dead...my SIL lost her index finger in Dec to her "darling" Pit who never bit anyone... |

| yes they can just because ignorance gives a certain dog breed a bad reputation doesn't mean it is true they prob are annoyed because the pup is bigger then them clumsy and wants to play all the time thats what puppys do they will outgrow it i would LOVe to have a blue pit myself!!

i agree 100% i love large breeds but will not own one if i own a small dog there are some like penny shanas boxers but im 100% sure she spent alot of time training & loving her i wouldnt keep it unless your whole family is ready to train --socialize- & get a trainer one that knows pit bulls & never leave the dog alone with your small dogs esp as a puppy they dont know they think there just playing treat it like family do not tie it or crate it or leave it outside you will just get an aggressive dog | |

| I say no. Pit Bulls may be sweet but they have a natural disposition to fight. I was attacked by a Pit Bull who was knew me, was owned by a sweet old lady. It broke through a wood fence and attacked me. Pit Bulls are just ticking time bombs. |

| I'm saying if the pit is a puppy and the yorkie was there first, she's going to be alpha over the pit. I have seen the one across the street with that little pom, that pom is the aggressive one. People tend to make pits mean, they should never(as a puppy) be played rough with..the lady I used for grooming had one, it runs free all the time, one of the friendliest dogs you'd ever meet |

| IMO is all has to do with how the two dogs are raised together. If you are the pack leader then there shouldn't be a problem. My big dog(10yrs) and my yorkie pup get along great but when the pup does something wrong, the big dog lets her know. It all comes down to training.

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | to the OP, i say Yes. Pits are HUGE babies. I work for a vet and see tons of different breeds every day. You wanna know the breed most likely to bite? its the Lab. yup, that's right. I've been bitten by one and so has a co-worker. Pits are great dogs. I love them and if i could i'd definitely get one. They are big lovers, couch potatoes, and sleeping partners. ![]() Pits aren't for everyone. alot of people are scared of them because of their bad rap. I wish people wouldn't jump to conclusions just because of what they've heard. More people have been bitten by labs and goldens then pits and rotties, but they don't make the news since they are "family dogs".

| Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Yes they can absolutley live together. A pit is just like any other dog. You go through the intro stages and monitor them from there. My parents have pitts and I got there all the time. I got my dad a Shih Tzu a few years back and there are no problems. As with any dogs you watch their temperment. I don't worry about the reputation of a Pitt...it's about knowing your dog.

| Keep her... My boyfriend has a pitbull at his mothers who has been raised around small dogs and he doesn't know he's big. He's only about 65lbs and lays on the floor and plays with all of our dogs. I have my two yorkie girls and my biewer and they love him! They crawl in his mouth and jump all over him! My boyfriends parents also have a yorkie/chihuahua mix and a yorkie. They walk all over him and he doesn't mind one bit... Its all about training and how consistant you are with her. I had a pitbull/american bulldog mix (rip) who loved my other yorkie girl.. They are the best and most loyal dogs you could have.. I love going to my boyfriend's and seeing his dog! The most happy go lucky guy ever!!

| Yes, they CAN, but it takes a lot of hard work and diligence. RULE #1- NEVER leave the dogs unattended together, because so much damage can be done if a fight were to start. But I use this rule for all the dogs in my household. If I'm not there to supervise, everyone goes in their own seperate rooms/crates. Even dogs that are best buddies will get in scuffles occassionally. I have a Pit Bull mix (mom was pure pit, dad was a mystery mutt), that I rescued from the shelter at 5.5 wks old, Sunday will be the 4 yr anniversary of her adoption!. From day one she was taught who was Alpha (ME!). She is food aggressive due to not have to share food as a pup and being taken away from mom too early, but its really no big deal, everyone is fed seperately. Anyway, Laney does very well with most dogs she has met. She has always known how to play well with smaller dogs. She understands that they are smaller and she doesn't play as rough. Yorkies and Pits can be raised together in the same house, but its also not a decision to be taken lightly. |
