My Little Man! Donating Member | I agree. I dont think that its just a pitbul issue. Any big dog might hurt a yorkie by accident by playing or stepping on it. My brother owns a pitbul who is a sweetheart! He is actually scared of any weird sound and runs away. He plays with neighbor's yorkie all the time. My Maxi never met his cousin because I am affraid that by playing he might accidently hurt him because he is a much bigger heavier dog not because he is a pitbul. Maxi sometimes plays with this big dog that my neighbor has but both of them are on the leash because her dog is big and heavier and jumps around and I constanly have to pull him away. Pitbuls with proper care could be the sweetest dog ever but what I would be concern is the playing part.

| The last pit bull horror story I heard happened in Knoxville. Two pits killed a woman who lived with them in the house. No one else was there, so no one knows what happened, but they attacked her and killer her inside the house. I know there are some nice pit bulls, but I would never have one and certainly not have one around my other pets or my family. There are too many other breeds to choose from. |

Do you have a link to that story? I'm just curious to see what the circumstances and facts of the case were.

| Just My Opinion, But I Have A Rottweiler And She Is Great With Tucker. He Is Like Her Puppy. I Do Watch Them When They Are Playing Though Just To Make Sure He Doesnt Get Stepped On, But I Think You Have An Advantage, The Pitt Is The Puppy So It Is All In How You Train Them. My Rott Is The Best Dog In The World, Hate To Say The Puppy Runs Close Behind!!!!! It Is In Your Hands How This Plays Out! It Is Sad What Bad Names These Dogs Get I Have Always Said You Never Hear Of A Yorkie Killing Someone. But Im Sure If They Were Big Enough ??????? It Is All In How They Are Raised And Their Disposition. You Will Know.

But when she is a playful mood - they all bark, growl & snap at her. We are still undecided whether we should keep her or not............ Sorry, i didn't take pictures of her yet. But she is a Beauty.... My son has her with him today & is spending the night at his girlfriends parents tonight. I will try to take pixs of her tommorrow when they come back. I have been looking for a trainer here in town. I will order Cesar Millan's training DVD combo if we keep her.

| I just want to say that pitt bulls can be very sweet and not intentionally hurt anyone or any animal, but their jaws are so strong that even a play bite can break a little ones neck. Just be careful and discourage any play biting. Good luck. |

BTW: Anyone who send me PM's about how they work for vets so automatically they know everything about Dogs, and I don't because I don't work for a vet. Your immature PM's will be deleted. Gosh some people! | |

| Yes, I think if you and everyone that will be interacting with the pitt(what was her name?) are confident that you can train her and you are all commited to be consistent with the training. I think you should definitely find a trainer that "specializes" in training pitts. I beleive that because of what they were bred for and their natural instincts they need a customized training plan. Ceasar Millan has some great ideas maybe email him and ask him what he thinks!!!!! I have 3 big dogs btw 65 and 110# and my little 5# yorkie and she rules everyone. My shepard cross(female) beleives it is her job to keep her safe and does just that when they are out playing. Mind you my yorkie thinks she is too good to play with anyone and will not let them play if she doesn't feel like it! |
