| I would have said: "She's got me right where I want to be". Sorry it was a difficult visit. Taking the crate was a good idea; that usually works for me. My relatives beg me to bring my dogs to family gatherings but they really just want to fuss over them for a little while and hand them back to me. There are a lot of really small children in my family and every single one of them wants to hold the dogs, which makes me nervous. I think it's stressful, but I would still take them on overnight trips as I couldn't stand being away from them.

| My future in-laws are the same. They have an outside dog but never even dreamed of having a dog in the house. Lucky for me, I've got two! Since I just got KaCee, I haven't had to take her there yet but A.J has gone to visit several times. The very first time I stayed there with A.J, they made him sleep in the garage! The poor little guy barked all night long and of course, they kept making comments about his bark, and will he ever stop, etc! I couldn't believe it! Of course he was barking, he was in the garage! Then, they expected him to just lay beside me the whole time. All A.J wanted to do was explore! MIL actually said to me that her days of having a messy house are over! All that came to mind, was hmm..her grandchildren are gonna love visiting her

| I know how you feel we have only had out baby a month and we took him over my inlaws house and just let me say he will not be going over there unless it is in the summer and we can stay outside. They have a male German Shepard which is 120lbs. They feed him crappy canned dog food which she buys at Walmart. She mixes in table scraps in it. She can always be heard yelling "if your done eating put your scraps in the dogs dish!" She feeds him these junk liver treats which she insist are good for the dog. So they were partying it up on Christmas eve and his dad was throwing potato chips at the shepard and of corse my dog is picking up everything he can put in his mouth. Then the MIL tries giving my dog liver treats and I told her no and she was so insulted. I felt like telling her my dog was not a garbage disposal like hers. I felt so bad for my dog because there dog kept licking his face and it looked like he had stuck his head in the toilet. Needless to say I had to give him a bath from being licked to death. Some people just don't understand how protective us yorkie moms are.

| I feel your pain. If anyones read my other threads....my logan got very sick at my in-laws. He gets some people food from my husband & I but very small pieces of only certain things. Well these people just don't get & everytime i turned around someone was feeding him something. What part of he's had enough do people not get. Plus my MIL babysits these 2 little kids that are always there & they chase him & grab at him. It makes me a nervous wreck because I'm constantly worried about what he's doing. And I feel so bad because i have to scoot him out of places he shouldn't be because someone left a door open. Usually I send my husband by himself but at the holidays I feel I have to go, but next year logan maybe staying with my mom. She knows how to care for a dog. When I was freaking out cause he was sick the whole family was looking at me like I was totally nuts.

| My pup hasn't gone visiting yet, but I have an X-pen for him that he uses when he's outside. All of your remarks have informed me that the X-pen goes with us when we go visiting ... it will keep him safe in more ways than one. I think that traveling with the pup will be akin to traveling with a human baby: a whole lot of baggage to support one little heartbeat . |

| Sorry you had such a stressful time trying to keep your baby safe. I had to laugh though (please nobody bite my head off) at the thought of your inlaws throwing food out on the lawn--who does that? Half an onion? eek! Don't they have mice or rats or other pests where they live? (reading that I just pictured a yard full of random food scraps, like a giant compost or a Waldorf salad) tee hee D- |

| It is hard traveling with Yorkies. I would definitely recommend a x-pen. I have heard to many horror stories of kin folks visiting, and someone accidently lets the Yorkie out with disasterous results. That is why were never go see our in-laws together, although they love dogs and would welcome them all, we just have too many to travel with. Hopefully your next visit will be better. |

| I can truly relate to this one. I spent two weeks at my daughters house, to help out with my new grandaughter and her sisters. Of course I brought Maggie & Bailey with me! My daughters' 120 # Rottweiller wanted to play tag with my little ones, so they had to spend the whole two weeks locked in the bedroom. I don't know what I was thinking. Everyone kept saying "They just want to play!" We're home safe and sound and may never leave the house again |
