Sorry it was a difficult visit. Taking the crate was a good idea; that usually works for me. My relatives beg me to bring my dogs to family gatherings but they really just want to fuss over them for a little while and hand them back to me. There are a lot of really small children in my family and every single one of them wants to hold the dogs, which makes me nervous. I think it's stressful, but I would still take them on overnight trips as I couldn't stand being away from them.
