| Should I get this yorkie girl?? Or turn away? Today I met a lady that was selling yorkie pups. She only lived 1/2 mile from where I was talking to her so I told my husband I wanted to go see her pups. When I got there the little girl she was telling me about that weighs only 2 pounds was outside running around. She took me to her back yard and there was 2 dog lots with yorkies running around inside cages. The little girl was 4 months old and weighs 2 pounds. There was other dogs and pups (not yorkies) outside the cages with the little girl just out in the yard running free, there were also big chickens. I know for a fact that there are big snakes and bobcats and big hawks and owls there too, because it is near my farm. Her hair was very thin and she did not look healthy. The lady wants $1,500.00 for her. I felt terrible leaving her there. My husband said that if I wanted her that he would get her for me. I know that she is not "good quality" and that I would be supporting a BYB, but I feel so sorry for her. She was even carrying around a dead squirrel! Her tail is not docked either. Should I just walk away and leave her there or should I bring her home and give her the life that a little girl should have? I have a picture on my cell phone but I don't know how to transfer it to my computer. Thanks. |

| Wow thats a hard one, That is a lot of money for a dog not of good quality, But I think you should do what your heart tells you. I was just put in a spot with a AKC Yorkie that didnt meet the breeders Yorkie program because shes to small and not able to hold her puppies. But she was only 300. I felt so sorry for the female because she has never been really loved on and I felt she deserved it , like they all do. But went to meet her and she was very scared, but such a sweet heart, The only reason I didnt take her because she needs to be in a home with no small children and no other pets. But I did find a few people on here that do want her and so hopefully she gets her forever loving home. |

| That's a painful situation to me. You want to rescue her so badly. I'm not the best one to ask...my heart would probably speak louder than my head.

| Oh my gosh, I would feel the same way you do. Wanting to rescue her from that bad situation. Maybe you should offer the lady a lot less money and see what she says. "Good Luck" I'm sure you can't get that tiny little Yorkie girls image out of your head. Let us know what you decide.

| I know how you feel, this is a tough one for sure, My joey was in the same sisuation, He was not being taken care of, living on the floor in a cold basement, cages of alot of other puppies, His price was no where near that amount, she clamied he was being discounted because of his age ( 4mths ) he is akc and a very beautiful babie, But to this day he is still very shy and submisive, I tryed to leave that day without him, got in my car to leave, didnt even make it out of there driveway before i went back him and brought him home, I followed my heart and iam very happy i did sorry so long, I hope this sheds alittle light for you good luck.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i would probably walk away. Thats alot of money to pay for a possibly sick little girl. It would kill me to do so, but i wouldn't buy her. if she's AKC would you be able to report her?

| Let me tell you a story. One day, I went into a pet store that I don't usually visit, looking for special treats for one of my cats. As I was walking back to the cat treat isle, I heard this little MEOW. I looked down and here was this scrawny, tiny Himalayan kitten, just adorable. He looked at me and Meowed, as if to say, "Hey nice lady, please take me home!". That's all it took. I held him for a bit, looked for the treats then headed to the cashier. The guy at the register said "Do you know how much that kitten costs?" I said, "I don't care" and pulled out my credit card. The next day I had that little baby at the vet and started him on supplemental feedings with formula, every 3 hours around the clock. The vet really did not think he would make it. Today, he is healthy, happy and the most loving darling kitty. You would never know he had such a rough start. As it turns out, he came from a kitten mill in Montana, was taken from his cat mom way too soon and was literally starving to death at the pet store. I am so happy that little guy found me. Long story short, get the dog.

| Do you think that with the right food and The Missing Link that I could turn her around? She is very active and playful, not at all shy. I think that she is actually healthy but has not had the right nutrition. I will have to think about it and pray about it. |

| It is hard, if you don't take her, believe me, someone else will..they're all sweet, you can not save them all unfortunately...If you really really want her, I would tell her that you will give her this amt for her..I paid less than that for my last one, and she to me, is beautiful...if she won't take less, I would walk away.. |

| Definitely walk away. I know you feel bad for the puppy, but buying her would only support a bad breeder. And if it were me, and I was paying $1500, I'd want a quality yorkie that came from good lines and parents that had been health tested.

| I know it's hard, I've faced a similar situation myself and I couldn't go through with taking the puppy . I kept thinking... I'll save this life and then there will be another and another just like her in the situation and it will never stop. I called the ASPCA and did the best I could to get her operation shut down. Unfortunately I lost track of the status so I'm not sure what they did. I do know they fined her and confinscated some of the dogs. I prayed so hard for an answer, but I just kept thinking about the dogs parents, the other breeding dogs, all the future litters that would never have a good home or safe place and I focused on getting the ASPCA to step in and help. |
