I think allergies and allergic asthma are different. I know it's a long long process for allergy shots and treatment.

I am going in for my first round of extensive testing after my blood allergy test I had done.. on Monday. They said it can take up to a month to find out the exact levels of reaction. So basically I have to go in two times a week to be injected w/many allergens and then see if I wheeze/cough/break out in hives/ect ect.

I'm actually kind of scared about all the testing, but I'm an adult and I made the choice to add my furbabies to my family knowing that it would be a challenge. So I am praying for a wonderful outcome and that the allergy shots basically stop me from having such severe allergic asthma to my furbabies.

I can completely understand though why someone with a young allergic child would not want to put them through this. It's years of testing and bi weekly shots and relief takes time to build (my dr told me not to expect relief for at least 6 months if not more).
