| I'm in BIG trouble! How do I stop it? Hello everyone. I am new to YorkieTalk and desperately need your help! I have had Monkey, a 17 month old male (not neutered), since he was 4 months old. He was very smart and seemed to learn to go potty on paper or outside very easily and he went everywhere with me. He was doing very good...until I got Maddie. She was 12 weeks old. Since then, Monkey has just thrown any training he has ever had out the window. He lifts his leg on everything and poops wherever. This has made it impossible to properly train Maddie (now 5 months old). She does whatever he does. I NEVER SEE THEM DO IT!!! They know they're doing something wrong! My apartment has turned into a doggy-potty-haven!!! I'm even taking out the carpets and putting hardwood floors this weekend. I'm hoping to start over from here. Any advice on training older dogs? I feel I have done such a horrible job . The worst part is that I can't take them anywhere and Maddie is not getting the socialization that Monkey did. They are so sweet and loving and I just want us all to be happy. |

| He needs a belly band. That way you don't have to worry about where he's hiking that little leg and enjoy him. I think it will be vertually impossible to expect him to be potty trained with a little girl running around and he's not neutered. |

Is it out of the question to get him neutered?

| Sounds like Monkey is jealous. Include him in everything. Wouldn't hurt to have him neutered also.

| He is marking - best way to stop it is to neuter him and when she is old enough her too. Then start from scratch as if they are both pups again. The belly band won't teach him to stop training is the only way. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | lol....that WAS funny - I don't have boys but lots of people use belly bands and I agree with Jules - keep potty training and don't feel bad - you didn't do a bad job - they just try to get away with what they can and most of the time it seems to be peeing in the house. You got good advise and I want to wish you luck with the floors - you can always use area rugs - but I found when I had wood floors - they have a tendency to pee on the little rugs...I now have Tile and can clean up really easily. |

| Hilarious - just be glad you don't have a monkey! I have hard tile, too. I buy those cheap little rugs at walmart because the dogs will pee on them, it doesn't run through the grout like a river. I just pick them up and throw them in the wash. I can tell by the bottom if they have been peed on. Then I throw another down. Recently they marked them down from $5 to $2.50, so I got another handful.

| THANK GOODNESS I DON'T HAVE A REAL MONKEY!! I would really have my hands full! You guys are funny. Thanks for the advice. I have recently thought of a belly band. It's definitely worth a try. I didn't neuter him because I wanted to breed him. He is 3 lbs and so beautiful! Maddie is equally georgous (I'll post pics soon). Does anyone happen to use a litter box? I recently started trying that as well. So far, they're just eating the litter. Will they ever learn? |

| Ya now that I have slept a few hours I went back and looked at that post and now I feel really goofy. Dont hold it against me guys. Yes my hair color is naturally blond and yes I can be extremely silly . anyways good luck pottty training your dog . And belly bands and diapers are not meant to keep you from potty training they are just meant for when they have little accidents especailly when you cant take them out for awhile because your gone or something. We are workign on potty training chloe and she started sleeping with us so I am putting a diaper on her when she is in our bed only.
