Hello again my yorkie is always biting and I dont know how to stop it she is 9 weeks and I was told she does it because she is teething.Will this stop as she gets older?.I try petting her and the first thing she does is try to bite my fingers. I tell her NO firmly but she doesnt stop. I dont want her to get in the habit or be aggressive what can I do I NEED HELP

She's not teething, she's playing...if you watch a litter of puppies that's how they play with each other. You have to redirect her attention...firmly tell her no and replace your hand/finger with a toy. She will quickly learn what's appropriate and what's not.

Sounds like she's just playing with you and not taking your 'no' seriously. I 'scruffed' Hoku twice and she stopped and now knows that when I say no I mean no

Just act like momma dogs do when they're tired of their puppies biting - gently pick her up by the scruff of her neck and give a little shake.

i read somewhere that if you yelp (like their siblings would) and push down on their back (a sign of dominance) she should stop.. like someone said.. then replace your finger with a toy... with layla.. when she was a pup.. we would just yelp very loud... it would scare her and she would stop.. but it took a few months.. she was a chewer!

My niece is having the same problem with her lab puppy. He bites ALL the time. I'll take some of this advice to her.

I tried the pushing onto the back thing w/my little girl Lula and she freaked and bit.. my other two never did that. So I think it depends on the dog.. because I was definitely surprised.

Every time they bite, yelp or say no then walk away and ignore them. This has always worked for me.. they want your attention to play and if you don't give it to them.. they'll eventually stop.

I never reprimand my Yorkies in any physical way. I stop the attention if they do something I don't like. When puppies are little you can simply replace the finger with a toy and try to train them that playtime chewing is for toys only. You don't want to make them afraid of you or timid. Be firm but be gentle.
