| I apoligize if I insulted anybody. The lazy comment was meant for people that are home all day, but would rather watch TV or sleep until noon, instead of housetraining their babies. As far as working, I just recently retired from 40 years of service. So don't tell me how hard it is. I too raised two children on my own. |

| Stitches,I am at home all day and sometimes I DO sleep until noon But as I said, the reason that I have to use the pads is because I dont have a garden,I dont have a green patch near my house and I live infront of a mainroad.Up until the first of may I was able to take Lady and Jess to the beach on walks, but once the tourist season starts here,we cant do that for obvious reasons so the pads are my ONLY method because I dont really have much choice.I take them on walks daily when I go and fetch my kids from school, but I dont take them out to potty every few hours because its just impossible in my case and in the case of many others I respect everybodys training methods,I would never call anyone lazy no matter what they do because what ever you chose it always requires patients and hard work..training is training and no method is easy.It doesnt matter what time we get up ot how many hours we are at home or not I have spent Months and months training my babies and the results are two great yorkies whom I trust enough to le them all over the house Im actually quite proud of all my hard work |

| You are so correct. Everybody raises their children (human and canine) differently. If everybody used the same standards then this world would really be boring. Again, no insults were intended. So now lets drop the entire subject.. No Poop Intended. |

| dsrjjr, Your apology is appreciated and that you accepted mine. I was not implying anything. I guess I was raised in the old school too long. Wasn't any conveniences back then. I will try to get with the times. Good Luck to all of you and your babies. Old dogs (like me) can learn something everyday. Thanks to all for the eye opener and brow beating. |

| oh yeah, Mya's_Mom: what r piddle pads?? are they different from the wee wee pads everyone's talking about? Lastly, jackandjill, what is the Wiz dog?? Thanks again everyone!! Hi, A Wiz Dog is something that I ordered after seeing an ad at the top of the page on signing into YT. It is a tough plastic tray the size of a pee pad. You put a pad or newpaper in it then cover it with a plastic grate. When the dog pees the urine goes through the grate and he is not standing on it. It prevented Jack from tearing the pee pads up, and it protected the floor more. As I said I can take it with me when I visit, and he has a "usual" place to go. If you do order one, make sure that you get the small grate, as the larger one's holes are too big for our Yorkies paws. Good luck, it is a trial by error situation.

| oh wonderful!! THanks jackandjill, i think i'll check out the Wiz dog!! Oh, and can anyone plz tell me what exactly a dog crate is?? Do I really need it when I get a puppy? I've read different sources and they say different things!! From what I've read, it seems like it is a metal cage-like thing where ur supposed to keep ur puppy in, and you lock it. Some sources say I should ONLY put a doggie bed in there, some toys, water, but no wee wee pads. While others say I cant put a wee wee pad in there bc dogs dont like to pee where they sleep. So what exactly is that thing for?? Why can't I just buy him a regular doggie bed and not put him in a dog crate? THis forum also talks a lot about crate training a puppy. I'm not sure what it is and how it works. Sorry, I've never had any dogs in my life and this is all very new to me. Any insight will be very helpful, thanks! |

| I only used a crate when Jack was really small, and then only to transport him to and from my work, and he used it as a bed there. I have been very lucky with him not tearing things up, I give him the run of our living area and my bedroom, his wizdog is in the laundry room. I tried getting a bed for him, but he only uses it during the day when he is too tired to jump into my husband's recliner. At night he sleeps with us. I think it is the choice of the owner. I have always let my dogs have space, and have never had a problem with destruction. Good Luck. First dogs are a real learning experience.
