I can't offer an advice - just sympathy. Tinkerbelle is 13 weeks old now and she still rarely makes it to the piddle pad. She just squats where she is. She goes on the pad during the night every couple of hours when I get up and put her on it. But at other times - not a chance! I've had her for 4 weeks - it has gotten better 'cause she doesn't go as frequently as she used to, but I still have to chase her around to grab her before she goes on the carpet. She runs so fast and I can't keep up. Papertowels and Simple Solution are my friends! Poos are getting better though. Yesterday she went on the pad twice by herself and again today twice - although she didn't go there sometimes too. But it's better. I'm just trying to be VERY VERY patient and thankful that she's so cute - cause right now that's about all she's got going for her. Oh - and she's started giving little tiny hugs with her paws - that is cute!

| Is the scent of his urine on the pad? When I took JoJo home from the breeder, she told me to let the pad get really saturated in the beginning before washing it. If the pad is clean, I would try turning it over where he urinated to get his urine smell on there. You don't say how old your puppy is, but I am seeing alot of recent improvement and my puppy is a little over 5 month old. Also, he seems to have more accidents when we are not in the same room with him (he has a few areas in the house with ceramic tile floor), he gets excited and doesn't like to be alone, I think and starts to lose focus. Now when he is with us in a room he doesn't have many accidents but it was a constant "go pee" and placing him on the pad for a long time! Hang in there, hopefully it will click soon.

The age has a lot to do with this too. And also, when you got them, and how long you've had them. I take it your new at this, and a new puppy? Seems if Frankie is going an inch or so off the pad, he's trying. Feet may be on pad, but butt isn't. Have you tried an x-pen? Best place to put one is the busiest room in your home. Pee pad goes on one end, and food, toys, crate on the other end. If you get one, make sure its a tall one, some yorkies are good climbers! And if your x-pen is on carpet, might want to put a shower curtain under it to start with. That way if they miss the pad, carpet is protected.

Oh Steph I'm so sorry - I am reminded why I will never get a puppy again!! I love my man but I couldn't live through it again. All I can do is echo here - patience...he will grow up soon enough and he'll understand things a bit more. OH - also someone had posted to try putting cans on all sides of the peepad so that the pup knows when he's allll the way on the pad - I can't remember the exact instructions for that. Sometimes it gets even better - Buddy is pretty much completely trained - but when he gets mad at me! The other day I left him with friends to go out to dinner for an hour, and he lifted his leg on my friend's leg!! Evil Puppy!!

if he's just starting to learn, he's doing pretty good so far if hes just inches from the pad. that means, he smells it and knows he's supposed to go there, just all 4 legs arent in. you need to really watch him and his patterns at first and be able to put him on all 4s on the pad when he's ready to release. and when he's slightly off or off completely, say no (sternly, but dont yell to scare him) and push or pick him up onto the mat fully so he can finish. when he does make it, reward him or praise him (must be every time). if you keep doing this, he'll eventually pick up that all of his feet have to be on the mat to be a 'good boy.' hope that helps! good luck! i know house breaking is the most frustrating!
