| An agressive young pup!!! We just got this puppy last Sun. The people we got her from said she was about 5 weeks at the time. Honestly I think she was closer to 4 weeks. Long story short the mom quit nursing her and the lady I guess didn't want the responsibility. She has really come out of her shell and plays VERY hard. She LOVES biting and growling. We will hold her down and tell her no. We normally don't let her up till she quits squirming. Sometimes that will work. After we do this a few time then she will just use our fingers to chew on.(she is teething) I just got a small quirt bottle and filled it with water hoping this will help some. I know that this is the MAIN reason why she should have stayed with mom. Diesel has really taken to her. She will bite his feet and pull on them and he does NOTHING. He will move her away with his nose but he will not do much more than that. I figured that MAYBE if he got after her she would learn. He won't even do that much. She will also pull all over his whiskers and still he won't do a thing! I am open to ANY ideas~!

My furkids Donating Member | First off.....WAYYYY to young! you will probably hear this from other members as well. Even if Mom was done nursing her pups...she still teaches them "manners" besides that......My first yorkie got aggressive with me ONCE....this is what I did (was advised by a dog trainer)....when she gets aggressive with you, your other dog or anyone...pick her up, make her look you in the eye, even if you have to hold her head, and yell at her NO! DON'T DO THAT! then put her down and walk away from her...it only took once for me to do this with Sadie and she never did it again... Good Luck!

| Wow she is way to young to be away from the Mom and other pups. I think with one that young it is just gonna take patience on your part

| My trainer said that to them your hands are toys. If she bites you hide your hands and say no bite. When she settles down try playing again. She will eventully catch on. She is really young. It may take awhile.

| JMO If I were in that situation, I would take over the responsibility of the mother. when she bites, snap at her and nip her. It has to be instantaneous, or it will have no affect on her. You can use your hand to do this, but I believe that i would use my mouth. Chachi chewed at my hand one time while I was carrying both of them, and he wantd down. I had no free hand to correct him, so I snapped at him, with myf mouth, and he never did it again. It's the only language they understand, so to simplify thing, speak to them in their own language. |

| Yep I fully agree way to young to be away. We didn't intentionally set out looking for one that young. We weren't even looking. We got a call letting us know that this pup needed a home. JeanieK, I had thought about that too. Just wasn't too sure how to go about it. I was really hoping that Diesel was going to handle that part but doesn't look like it will happen tho. I had even wondered about just a small pinch on the back of her neck when she got really agressive. I had thought it would mimick the mom. Next time she gets wild I will give it a try. I swear to be so little she is just wide open. She will play hard and then out of the clear blue curl up and pass out in her blanket. LOL I took some pictures of her and posted them in the health and diet forum. Thanks for the help!

| I wouldn't even be worried -- what your pup is doing sounds like normal puppy behavior to me. My new little Yorkie pup (8 weeks old) drove my Bichon crazy - jumping, chewing, and chasing him. And - my Bichon - like your dog - had the patience of Job and just put up with it. I often took my Bichon and put him on my bed so he could stretch out and take a nap in peace - where the little puppy couldn't get to him. Or - I'd let him go outside for a while and enjoy some peace and quiet. Tday - they have been together for more than a year - and they are playful friends and enjoy being together most of the time. I don't think you can stop puppies from behaving like puppies. Besides - we told my Bichon - "What goes around comes around." -- because this is exactly the way he treated my other dog when he was just a little pup. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| Stop that biting! My Yorkie too is teething. He is really spunky and can bite hard! I read in a dog training book to yelp in a high pitched voice when he is biting, but not too loud, and turn your back and stop playing with him for a few mins. It works for awhile, but he will bite again, but just keep on doing it. It seems that overtime it works quite well. My Yorkie doesn't bite as hard. I try to distract him with toys. Good luck!

| "You can use your hand to do this, but I believe that i would use my mouth." I hope this new owner doesn't use her mouth, that's just a good way to get part of your face bit and hard. But her hand I can see being used. |

I have a dachshund and a Jack Russell. The dachshund is old and she just growls at him when he gets too rambunctious. The Jack Russell is a big baby and runs and hides under the bed. I know he is driving them a little crazy so I make sure to give them breaks from Ben when needed. But I also know they will all grow into each other and become friends eventually. I am seeing some thawing going on already. We went through the same things when we brought the JR home as a puppy and before that our yorkie, Maggie (RIP). I would not worry too much about your new puppy -- using the discipline you are, she will learn and bond with Diesel in a gentler way. Your little puppy is lucky to have found a home with you -- so young to leave momma! I am sure she will take a lot of TLC!
