| Survey How many of you have a fully house trained Yorkie? All I hear is “good luck”, with the meaning being, it will never happen |

| The issue is rarely with the dog but the human. 3 of mine are but the fourth an 8 month old pup still randomly has a poo but it’s been sooooooo rainy here.

| Thanks for the reply. I need a little support sometimes. My baby Gracie is almost 5 months and we are diligently working towards our goal! 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. But hear so much negative feedback. |

| I had a pack of 3 girls, all 3 years apart, at 5 months old they were all 100% pad trained with no accidents and had free roam of the house, after they had all their vaccines I started training for out side potty, at 7 months old they were 100 % trained to do their business out doors, no accidents in the house. They were on a schedule, fed same time every morning and every evening, walked same time every day, even if they made on the pad they were still walked. When I got my 4th baby 2 of my seniors had passed, I had a 6 year old and the 8 week old, I followed the same routine. Puppy was confined to a small area until she was 100% pad trained which was at 5 months old, again, after all vaccines I began the out door training, again always on a schedule, at 7 months old she was 100% outdoor trained. Feeding and walking must be on a schedule. Rain, snow, sleet, they were walked. I rescued my boy when he was 2.5 years old, he was outside trained, he will only do his business out doors, he knows what pads are as his prev. owners trained him to use pads, I do leave one down when I know I will be out for several hours, he will not use it, he will wait until I come home to make outside. He squats to pee and no marking in doors. Schedules, consistency, and patience are key factors.

| Just recently got all shots so beginning the walking routine. But I end up dragging her down the street😂. She takes off running when we turn around to come home. Ha! Thanks for all the tips. Hopefully we’ll get there. |

| LOL, oh how I remember the dragging lol, is she use to having a harness on, if not, put it on her for an hour or 2 in the house with the leash attached so she gets use to the feel of it. They have to learn how to walk with a harness on them. When I had my pack of 3 a neighbor had a baby Dobermen that was belly down all fours spread out on the street and wouldn't move lol,I was taking my pack out for their morning walk, I told the man he'll get up when he sees my indians and he'll follow them, sure enough, he gathered those long legs of his together and followed us. I met up with him every morning for walks and his puppy learned how to walk on the leash. When the Dobby was fully grown he stayed in a gated driveway, he became my girls best friend and the first to be greeted in the morning. Your little gal has to learn how to walk on the leash and this will take a bit of time.

| I don’t think we ever had a problem with Emma or Troy on the leash . I will say that potty training was an adventure with both yorkies . I think it took about 18 months for Emma , using crate training and ensuring consistency. She will have an pee accident if she misses her “schedule” but she won’t poop in the house. If we re gone for an extended time she does go in her crate . No accidents there. We don’t use pads if we can help it , if it snows and it’s one of those we are snowed in she has pads but if it’s just a few inches , she goes outside rain, snow , sleet , sunshine , cold or hot.

| Winston is and has been fully trained, even through his health issues he's had no accidents. Him learning to go potty on 3 legs has been a learning process and I fully expected him to have mishaps as the vet said "he'll go when he has to"...I assumed it was while medicated and fast asleep. But so far so good. I agree with the schedule, being consistent and patience pays off.

| What a great story about your girls and the Doberman!❤️ Thanks everyone for your responses. As I said, I have needed encouragement. So it seems based on your responses, the walking routine has worked best for you. The “going to the same spot”recommendations have not worked for us. The walking has been successful recently. As you all know, everyday is an adventure and every day is a teaching opportunity. One successful thing to report, Miss Grace has learned the “sit” command for her treat after a successful outdoor potty! So excited! |

| Great you are teaching her commands and treats for outdoor potty. If your pup is very food or treat motivated she will do what you ask of her just to get that treat. Cody is very food motivated he would stand on his head if I was training him for that just to get that treat reward. Remember a scheduled feed and walk is a must for out door potty, regardless of what the weather is or if she has already made indoors, take her out at the scheduled time anyway. Dogs are creatures of habit, they get use to doing or getting things at a certain time, they have little alarm clocks built in them lol. She will learn she scheduled time to go out to potty.

| Sorry to keep bothering you guys. Any tips on handling separation anxiety? I learned that a Kong can help me leave the house when first putting her in the crate in the am whe I go to work. But today at lunch, I came home to a soaked crate. I truly believe she freaked out at some point during the morning. We had such a successful potty weekend and I was so disheartened. I’m considering getting a Cam to watch her. ( I am literally five minutes from work to home.) |

| I have 2 yorkies, a 14-year-old and a 1-year-old, both are excellent in going on the pee pads. Now, I must confess that sometimes my 14 yo, will make a poop present on the carpet at the front door. He has always used the pee pads, so we *wife* and I just figure it's part of his old age and he is probably 90% blind. We ask him if he just forgot where he was at and he says yeah... so we just let it slide |

| Mine are completely house trained both to go outside and pee pad trained. With the pee pads sometimes they miss the pad if they go near the edge. Othertimes they decide to go in a specific area that I do not have the pad if I am not home and quick enough to replace the pad. I don't consider those accidents just their preference when and where to pee
