| Only uses corner of potty pad and won't go to it on his own I have two concerns. Carson is 4.5 months and weighs about 4 pounds now. He has been using a potty pad since we got him at 12 weeks inside his xpen. I got a pad holder a week ago because my husband bought cheaper pads in bulk and they were not as absorbent and making a mess on the tile. Now he will only use the corner of the pad over and over. Not really a huge deal because I figure it's at least on the pad, but it's so wasteful. Anyone else have this issue? Next, and really my biggest concern is that he will not go to the pad voluntarily. Since the beginning I put him in there about every hour or if I notice signs he needs to go. When he goes I have a party with treats! However, he just won't go voluntarily and has a lot of accidents when I don't catch his signs. I worry he's afraid of going on his own and getting locked in. He likes playing with his sister and can't wait to get out when I put him in there. Should I move the pad out of the pen when we are home and he has freedom? Just wondering if anyone has suggestions of how to get him to use it on his own. |

| Sometimes tray holders discourage pups from going to the pad or getting fully on the pad. You could try using a rubber mat or piece of linoleum under the piddle pad. I use a rubber mat that is larger than the pad, at least 6 inches on each side. My boys often favor one spot on the pad. It may appear wasteful, but leaving a pad out until most of it is filled would likely discourage your pup from wanting to use the pad. When Max was a puppy, he thought one use was enough to throw it in the garbage. Keep up the great work of praising your boy when he gets it right. He is still very young, but he will get it eventually. You could try limiting his roaming freedom to be closer to the pad. Then increase his freedom as he learns to go to the pad on his own.

| My puppy is 10 months tomorrow and he does this sometimes I just switch the potty pad around and it does the trick lol. He will eventually start going on his own he's still a baby he'll get it, but even then I still suggest you do this til he's 1 yrs old Unfortunately. My puppy was doing so good on his own for a few months I thought he was fully potty pad trained but lately he has been going wherever he wants to go. So I had to start taking him to his pad again every 2 hrs. I am now training him to go outside since he's a marker now. He used to go potty on his pad on command but now he just sits in his xpen staring at me telling me he doesn't need to go but once I take him outside he lifts his leg like 10x he's turned into a little marking monster

| LOL my Spice does the edge thing to so I will turn it around and she can use it at least twice before changing. I wont let it go longer than that! I figure twice is the same as once in the middle LOL |

I have a pen ( that they never use) within their extended area in my kitchen and the pee is inthe corner. They love to run in and out even when it's cold so they pee outside too but Mine were edge pee'ers. So my hubby took a piece of cardboard, cut out about 5 inches high and as long as it wrapped around pad except for one corner they had to go on IN to pee. It WORKED! So he got a thin piece of plywood and made an edge to wrap around pad...I said " scallop the top please and make it look pretty?" He did and it solved our edge pee' ears problems! Lol make sure their area is always clean or it's an invitation to go elsewhere. I patch the pee spots with paper towel and it lasts longer😊 And they love the praise after you see them go too! Good luck!

I need to paint it yet but I placed a piece of their pee pee scent paper in there and turned back the corner to show the foamy shelf liner I placed under the pad. They don't like the slippery pad holder and won't walk on it and i don't trust the pads by themselves on carpet....

| Now I must also add.....it's a process...by that I mean they WILL go in and pee ....but will not walk in their pee.....Zoey seems to just walk in and pee ...right in the corner doorway...if she comes backs and sees she has to walk in that pee to get to the rest of it she will choose to go some where else....so we keep an eye on it and either cover it with a paper towel , or turn it....been thinkin of making the opening a little bigger...😕 Sheesh

| Nice solution. I like it. My pups pee on the edges as well. I was able to teach my pups to pee in the bathroom instead of my living room which has hardwood floors. It was tough at first but rewards of pieces of chicken works every time. |
