| Herbal Supplement for Anxiety - Please comment Has anyone ever used n herbal supplement for Anxiety? A couple trainers suggested I try it with Deuce along with his Thunder Shirt. We've been having peeing issues when there's guests at the house. It's called Richard's Organics Pet Calm.

| Never heard of it, but my vet recommended Lecithin and Zylkene for his anxiety of riding in the car. He is such a picky eater it's hard to get it into him. The Lecithin for hi 7# is 1/4 tsp per day, the other is a pill once a day that I got from the vets office.

| I've used Richard's Organic Pet Calm. For me I found it not to be effective. I believe it all depends on your dog. I would put it in their water when I left for work. There are many reviews on Amazon that said it works wonders for them. Another option I heard is using classical music. I tried that as well and it did nothing for me. Luckily, my babies have calmed down and are doing better when I leave them alone. |

| There are a couple of products we have at my store for natural anxiety management. One is by homeo pet, they have anxiety relief and anxiety tfln as follows- Anxiety relief: relief from fear of separation, vet/grooming visits and kenneling. Symptoms: barking, crying, panting, destructive behavior. Anxiety Tfln: relief from fear of fireworks, gunshots and loud noises. Symptoms: drooling, pacing, panting, barking, hiding and destructive behaviors. The brand seems to be solid in horses and some people come in looking for it (they have many different types and are intended for multi species use) As a new product at my store it wasn't received well by our clientele (more farmy, maybe not so into trying homeopathic remedies) so I haven't gotten a lot of feedback I'm afraid, I haven't tried it myself. The other product I have on my shelf is also in Lilah's travel bag. It is by Ark Naturals and it is called 'Happy Traveler' it is a tryptophan based product and is so effective that my dog will intentionally avoid taking it now. Says- helps anxiety and nervous behavior- which unfortunately, Lilah does have post a traumatic issue where she was attacked by a large dog. She is getting better but we still have some problems. I like this product because it is a chew- the homeo pet products is a drop you put in their water but it stays at the surface (because it is an oil base?) so they consume it as soon as they take a drink of their water. I haven't tried it yet because we aren't treating a daily anxiety issue- it is more of a situational one but it might help us with our base line? I look forward to hearing if anyone else has tried these products.

| Sorry for double posting but I also wanted to mention I addition to the thunder shirt there is also some excellent plug ins that emit mom dog pheromones to relax your dog, also available in a spray (to spray on thunder shirt for example) and in a spray that makes a corrective noise to stop specific behavior when it is occurring.

| Is the thunder shirt work? My Chikubi has separation anxiety. I Have been trying a lot of different way. For supplement, I have tried The little oil in yellow box I found it at Walmaxt which is not works for him- I just bought Kong few days ago, but when I left he would drop it down...still trying. Bought NaturVet Quiet Moments Calming Aid Dog Soft Chews at petxo online Didn't arrive yet. I'm thinking to get the thunder shirt for him too, Since July 4 is coming. And after that I might need to go out of town for few days. but I think the thunder shirt is too hot to use now . Isnt It ? Which one u use and how to ? |

| I'm an advocate for training to correct mental anxiety, whenever possible, before trying supplements and shirts that 'masks' the underlying issues. Understanding that when they're anxious and peeing everywhere while there's guests, it's a difficult situation. But have you tried using the clicker and calming them down by sit and stay with treats? If they're too excited, what about trying when there's less guests? For example (though not the same situation at all), when I used to come home, Scottie would jump and jump and jump. Luckily he didn't have excited-pee issues and also he didn't hurt himself from jumping too high - there was way too much air time - I swear he could be a high jumper! But, as a preventative measure, I didn't want him to jump as he did in case he hurts himself. So I trained him to sit and stay before I approached him. The second he jumped, I'd walk away. I know it's not fun to restrain his excitement for when he sees me (I'm Queen of no-fun mom sometimes), but I believe it's truly for his own good.

| Wow I originally posted this thread in October 2015 and surprised it's still going. Our little guys do have some anxiety issues at times. AS an update to Deuce. The peeing problem in the new house has stopped. Initially I put a belly band on him when visitors came and gradually gave him his freedom. He is very comfortable in the house now and I no longer use a belly band unless someone brings a dog in - which is rare. He asks to go out when needed (circles by the door) He does have some anxiety when we travel and I do use the thunder shirt and calming drops. The combination seems to relax him a little after the initial panting but I also have been taking him with we more in the car. Eventually I will not use the supplement when I finally run out. I use the shirt in the warm weather since he is usually in an air conditioned environment. He doesn't need it during outside outings.

| Cuz I don't have an a/c now. So I am afraid he feels hot at home if I try the thunder shirt. He just have the separation anxiety when I leave without him. I am still trying on different things and different ways to help him He's creta trained now. And Two days ago I put a camera there and see what he do when I left. He was like non stop crying and sometimes yelling. Keep on looking at the door. Walk circle at the crate. And he might stop crys once in a while and sit down at the corner which is the closer to door and keep on looking at the door like 10s. And crys again walk circles and he wasn't relax and didn't even try to eat his treats or play his toy. |

Please look into separation training. You can't continue this way or the situation can get worse. You need to help him get over this and it's very doable. Here are a few articles for a start: Managing Your Dog's Separation Anxiety | Karen Pryor Clicker TrainingTake a thorough read through the entire article. There is a LOT of useful info there. Otherwise, enroll in a dog training course. The trainers would be able to guide you through it.

It is really sad to see him like this. My roommate told me when I left he was nonstop crying. But she went in to my room point at him n say : stop yelling . shut up. And then she left ... He stopped. But if I do that he won't. I am trying to train him since i knew he has separation anxiety. I do research everyday n night. Tried some and still trying some more things to help. He is better then before.. But still trying to help him get even better or help him back to be a normal relax happy dog. I went to petco yesterday tried to help him with the trainer and get to know what can I do more to help. Thanks for the help - I will see and learn at those websites u just gave me- I really would love to try anything that might can help him. I feel really terrible that I did something I found online that's should helps the separation anxiety but didn't help him. I feels like I'm really useless sometimes. But I know I have to be strong again and keep looking for more things to help him.
