| i dont like my lotus right now! okay, so i am at the point where i want to rip my hair out. with snickers..i never had issues like this. i guess not every puppy is the same.. they're all different. and i must say.. lotus has been the most difficult of them all. i have a little private area for her that is blocked up with a pet gate (she now knows how to use her paws to lift herself UP OVER the damn thing...errrrrrrrrrrrv) that idea is out of the water, she also just recently got giardia, so i had to move her potty pads to "tile" floor in the bathroom so its easier to clean up..& i dont want snickers stepping in it. oh yeah, and to top it off not only can she toss herself over the damn gate, the otehr day when i got home she ripped up her potty pads and chewed up the wall and the carpet. MORE FRUSTRATION. i put her in the bathroom for like 10 minutes.. (she chews off the railing on the bottom of the bath rub) MORE FRUSTRATION. i have many toys for her to chew on. expensive toys..good toys.. after moving her potty pad to the bathroom..she seems confused now. I have no choice but to try and crate train her.. (something i have never done before.) I am afraid that she is going to pee and poop in her crate.. (she has been peeing on her bed..she also eats her poop MORE FRUSTRATION.) this is a really long post..and i apologize. theres just so many frustrations with this puppy.. i am going insane. even when i keep her in her den alone for like 10 mins she starts whining like a litte punk!!!! so I KNOW for a fact when i put her in her crate..she is going to whine like no tomorrow..and poop an dpee all over herself.. i've been watching her very closely because of her giardia thing. i guess i am just asking... how can i make this easier for her to transition into crate training..and i want to start taking her outside..i am so tired..and frustrated with her.

| First, let go of the idea that you don't like your pup. Negative energy will only fuel her anxiety and lead to more destructive behavior. You have to maintain a calm confidence to communicate with her and teach her the correct behavior. Sounds like she needs some activity to drain or redirect her energy. I wouldn't crate train this pup. Find a taller gate or a tall xpen, maybe one with a top, to confine her to a small area that you can safely clean. Be sure she gets enough exercise and stimulation with playing and basic obedience/trick training. If taking her out for potty breaks is safe with her age/giardia, be sure to take her frequently. Be sure to praise profusely and maybe give a small treat when she potties correctly either outside or on the pad. If she is eating her poop, check out the thread in the health section about poop eating. Take a deep breath and reset your mindset.

| This style gate should work if she's a climber not a jumper. If she is a jumper then you would need a higher gate. This one is a bit pricey, but I just wanted to show you the ways the bars are set up. http://www.petco.com/product/112448/..._doggatesdoors

| she gets plenty of exercise.. i make sure of that... she plays with my other dog for hours....!! and gets tired and takes a nap.. then when i leave her behavior is destructive!!! anywho, i got a crate today..she is sleeping in it as we speak.. and is actually not going nuts. (thank god) its amazing.. i dont feel comfortable taking her outside just yet..it also doesnt help that my neighbors has dogs that go poop..and doesnt pick up their poop!! ugh. (i live in an apartment) shes going on paper just fine.. i guess i was just overreacting and going crazy..because i'm so stressed about this giardia thing..and on top of that.. she was being a brat. but anyway, she's doing just fine in the crate (as of now..) hopefully it stays that way.

| A few things... 1) Where are you keeping her den?? If it is in a closed off space, she is going to whine and cry b/c she wants to be with you, you are her pack. 2) If her den is in a central location, when she cries--ignore her. If she cont to cry when you are trying to get things done, this is what I did and now Reesie (12 week old puppy) will be in his pen with minimal crying. Get a squirt bottle and sit by her pen with it, the moment she lets out a piercing bark, squirt her on the body with the squirt bottle and say "shh" at the same time. I did this all about 5-6 times and now Reesie is quiet in his pen and knows not to go crazy. He does however sometimes still bark and cry if I leave the room, he gets better everyday and I do not do anything when he is barking and I am not there. Sometimes if it gets to be too much, I will sit by his pen with the water bottle and he stops barking immediately. Not the most fun way to train, but is quick and effective. 3) If she is pooping/peeing in her bed, chances are she always will. My Snickers (my 2 yr old) did this forever and we HAD to outdoor train him and now he knows of course to only go outside. He will once in a while poop in the house as he is not good at holding it, we never get mad b/c poor guy has to go!!!!! 4) If you feel the pads are the best for her, try washable pads. They cant rip them up and they are better for the environment and can be used for a few days before needing washing. Reesie came to me very well pad trained, goes on pas about 75% of the time. We started outdoor training yesterday as many told me that if we indoor train him, he will never learn to go outside and I was going to transition him to outdoor this spring but now am no longer waiting. The washable pads are AWESOME!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!! My problem is that my Snickers is not accepting Reesie, but it's only been a week so I have tons of hope!!!!!!! Hugs- Vivian

| she's doing okay in the crate for now. she does whine a little bit when i left to the store last night..but when i got back she was sleeping in it just fine. i am planning on training her to go outside now..(putting her potty pads on the patio..) but im so afraid that shes confused right now.. (earlier when i said she has giardia...i moved her pads from the hallway to the bathroom..which is like 4-5 ft in distance..she WILL PEE on the new area..but she won poop in the new area...ITS SOOO FRUSTRATING..i dont want her to get her giardia cysts all over the carpet..and snickers will be stepping in it... my problem right now..is SHE WONT poop in the new area........... she will pee in the new area..but not poop..anyone else have this problem..
