I have had to cut Toby's treats and eating habits way back because of his LP so it looks like I will have to train him to come down the steps with bites of treats!

| Mine like the ramps best but I also have steps. My new puppy ws pretty easy to teach. I just held her and sort of walked her up the steps a couple of times. That was all it took and she is flying up and down those steps. But.... that is the only way she can get up on the chaise where the steps are. So, that is an easier teach. When I taught one of them as an adult, I put a treat on each step and they had to walk up them. Ben still jumps down way too often. Since he was neutered yesterday, I urged him to the steps and he gladly used them. Maybe that will get him back in the habit of using them to get down too. I don't like them jumping down onto ceramic tile. Too much jarring those tiny joints.

| The steps I had I bought years ago out of a catalogue. They are big foam blocks with a covering over them, that removes for laundering. I never really had to train any of the dogs to get up on them. They finally realized themselves that they could get up to us when we were in bed if they went up the steps. Even Reno, the rescue, just discovered that he could get up the steps yesterday.

| I taught mine to use the stairs starting from the top and working our way down. I would put them on the last step and coax them up on the bed with a treat. Once they got that down pretty good I would put them on the second to last step and just keep working our way down the steps until they were using all the steps. They all learned it very quickly and within a day they were running up and down those stairs.
