| spinning and barking when stressed I have a pup who gets very upset whenever I remove the trash bag in the kitchen to take outside. She starts spinning and barking loudly and snapping at the bag. I have also noted this behavior with a few other activities and there is no calming her until the activity I am performing stops. Honestly, it is almost like a Jekyl and Hyde thing...she just really gets stressed out and starts up! I know she hates to see me leave, and I have found that she is best confined in one room with toys when I go out. When I am getting ready to leave she knows it and starts this behavior, so I have started giving her a Kong treat ball which she loves...she stops the barking and spinning and goes into the bathroom willingly. She is fine until I return. No acting out at all. Any ideas?

| Over 72 people looked at this and no comments? Just want to say thank you to 107barney who asked her trainer about this behavior; and I am posting it in case it might help another person. She said that this is very common behavior. Dogs get excited because of the noise of the bag. She suggested putting treats down on the floor to keep her busy while I get the trash bag and do my best to keep the bag from making noise. So far, she has been better....as long as she has a treat to chase.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pixie does that spinning and barking like crazy every time I get up from sitting or laying down. She goes crazy, the rest of the time she is real laid back. She does it even in the middle of the night if I get up and put on my slippers. I have not found anything to stop her. I think she doesn't want me to leave. Although she is fine once I am gone. She does pull my pj's down the ramp off the bed and drag them to the hall and lays head on them while I am gone. So I think it is some form of separation anxiety. I will try keeping treats by me and see if giving her one when she starts up helps. Thanks

| Pasquale does this anytime something heavy is lifted...this would include the trash bags. I noticed this cause he NEVER barks....except for the mailman of courseI started taking notice the times that he barks..and its always when someone is lifting something heavy. Pasquale was nice enough to inform a lady at the airport that she was lifting her heavy bag too high LoL

| The way to Bella's heart and her angelic behavior is through food. I am going to make you an apron so you can always have food available. I will embroider your name on it, or one like mine that has the word "ENABLER" on it. You will soon be blinded by the glow of their halos, even if you smell like chicken in the process. LOL

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | That is so funny! My Bungee had separation anxiety until we started making it a treat occasion whenever we left the house even for a few minutes. Over the years she developed a built-in clock and knew my schedule -- so much so that if I didn't appear to be getting ready to go on a work day, she would nudge me to get moving. I haven't been on time to work once since I lost her. She also knew exactly when her breakfast and dinner time were, and would let me know if I was late in serving her. |

| ha ha! Of course that is what I meant. Maybe I should add that first word to mine because I don't enable people either.
