YT Addict | ![]() OK yorkie lovers - I really need encouragement. I have had my little diva for 2 months and the potty part is just not working. Finally, in desperation (after peeing on my bed, again) I got out the dreaded crate. So, here I sit with the crate on my bed, and Gabby in the crate, crying like a baby. You know, that sad little sound that makes you feel like the big bad monster. It is killing me!!!! How long does this last?? ![]() |

| ![]() Hello, I can tell you how I taught my yorkie to pee where she must do it. Every time I saw her smelling, she was looking for a place, so I put newpaper´s pages, to make her do it there. So when she did on the paper, I let the paper there so that the next time, she´ll be smelling again, and when she´ll noticed and remember somehow where she did it last time, so she made on the same place. Obviously change the paper when it´s too wet, change it but mataining at least one page so she can smell her last pee. I hope it´s useful. Good Luck

| ![]() With Rusty he was doing very well in the beginning going outside to go potty but about a week after i got him we found out he had pnuemonia and the vet told us to let him rest inside for a little while so now he uses puppy pads. I bought these puppy pads at Kmart for 14.99 and they come with 50. They are specially scented to attract dogs to use them. He has almost never had an accident and I had the same problem with him peeing on my bed. Another option is last night on tv I saw an ad for a thing called a Potty Patch and it seems like it would be a very good investment. I'm thinking of buying it myself so I can stop spending like 40 dollars a month on puppy pads. check it out the website is www.pottypatch.com |

YT Addict | ![]() Thanks for the response. I already use the pee pads and I also have the doggie litterbox. Sometimes she uses them and sometimes she just pees and poops wherever she feels the urge. I think her bladder is as big as she is. Everybody says about 20 minutes after eating, or maybe every hour take them out. I sat in my bathroom 2 1/2 hours and she never went! whats up with that? |

| ![]() How old is she? It takses some of them a whjile. You probably should not give heer the run of the house. Keeping them confined to a smaller area gives them a better chance of getting it right. A lot depends on how old they arewhen you get them and what conditions they were raised in. A puppy will learn a lot from its mother between 8 to 12 weeks. And if they were introduced to pee pads right from the start, they will train much easier. If they were taken from their mothers before 10 weeks and/or kept in a cage where they had to potty in the cage, then they will be harder to train. Time, patience and consistancy. |

| ![]() I used an ex-pen during the day and at night I put mine in a crate next to my bed. I would keep the pee pad in the ex-pen and I would leave the door open to the ex-pen and when I would see her sniff I would pick her up and place her on the pee pad and tell her to go pee pee on her pad. I would shut the door while telling her this and did not open the door until she peed. When she peed I would praise her like I won a million dollars and then let her out by opening the door. At night she would wake me up and I would bring her to the ex-pen to pee. I also have one extra pad in the living room and now Pixie can have the run of the house and if she has to go she will run to the ex-pen or that extra pad I have out. Pixie is about 23 weeks. We have not had any accidents in a while but I do notice she punishes me if I am real busy and will pee on my bathroom rug so I keep that door shut. I just think it takes time and consistency. Good luck! It will eventually happen, I know going through it there were days I would think this dog will never be pad trained. I just didn't give up ![]()

YT Addict | ![]() Thank you for the advice. Gabby was 12 weeks when we got her. She is now 4 months. She was kept in an expen at the breeders. So do you keep her in the pen all day? Do you take her out to play and put her back? We have a laundry room with a baby gate where I put her when I go out, but during the day she is with me. |
