| When is Too Old for Tricks Training? At what age are they considered too old to learn a new trick?? Does anyone have any interesting tricks they can share ... what it is and how they trained their babies? I know when I catch him in a certain motion that looks like something I give me treats and associate it with words like WAVE or HIGH FIVE or SHAKE PAWS. But I know people that teaches their dogs to roll over and clap ... wonder how that's done ... |

| I've been teaching to play dead when I say "bang bang" and do a gun motion with my hand. He's doing semi-good. He will only do it sometimes though right now. I'm working on making the command so he does it EVERY time. He also does sit, stay, high five, shake, down, and come. There's a really good website that helps.. if you go to google and type dog tricks, it's one of the first few sites that pops up.

| I never thought I could ever teach a dog to do tricks... but... Today I made Gucci learn to lay down. It took me 7 minutes...and Gucci is 3.5 months old. I always thought that older is better because they have more focus... I wish you good luck. Just give her some time for the tricks... They are really smart!!! |

| It is never too late or too old to teach your dog new tricks or commands. I've got a 13+ girl that I've recently re-trained to potty on pads indoors, (she has some health issues and needs to be able to go whenever she feels) she has been outdoor trained her whole life. It took some time, but she has gotten it. ' And she is learning new commands as well My 3+ yr Yorkie is still learning new tricks and still wants to The point is, with patience and perserverance, kindness, love, and reward(and lots of it ), you can teach them anything and the more time you devote to it, the more you get out of it and the stronger the bond with your pet (baby ) Heres a good site for training info Clickertraining.com

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We took Joey to a tricks training class, I wanted to learn the proper way to teach him a trick. I have since found this online guide, and it has written instructions as well as a video. The important thing is to make training fun. A 5-10 minute session done twice a day is better than one long session. I use Joey's regular food for training, and when I announce, "School time," Joey comes running. This site has specific techiques on how to teach tricks. Dog Tricks! Shake, Crawl, Beg, Kiss, Roll Over, Bow, and more!. This site has just general information on learning theory, if you are interested in learning the terms, and the why's and how's to train.
