| Early Morning Crate Barking I have a 3 month old, Mabel...Mabel started barking/howling in her crate (few days ago) earlier and earlier (5:30am). Of course, I got her up to pee/eat because I was afraid she'd wake up everyone else. Today I thought I'd just let her 'cry it out', wait for a lull in the barking and then take her out....no lull. AND, of course, my kids are awake now (ah, the fun of a puppy). So, I tried to wait for a lull but there wasn't one and I started convincing myself, maybe she REALLY needs to pee. So I just (6:10am) got her out of cage, let her quickly pee, didn't talk to her and put her back in her crate...she's still barking/howling. Again, I think I know what you'll say but figured I'd ask....should I let her 'cry it out'. What about me letting her out and putting her back in...I was so afraid she really had to go....thoughts? (thank you). |

| My 1 year old does this exact same thing. Lucky for me, my husband gets up with her and babies her until I get up at 6 am. I tried telling him to let her bark, but she ends up waking up the whole house ( cats, parrots, kids) and he says he can't go back to sleep after that anyway. So now she barks us awake every morning. This is fairly recent that she started this. He used to think the same thing- that she really had to pee or something, but she rarely does. Another even more recent development is she barks louder and with more excitement as he is getting up to get her. Her crate sits on his nightstand so she will go to sleep at night. None of this is likely helpful, I just though you may feel better if you're not alone on this one.

| I am no help either, just wanted you to know I am right there with you trying to figure it out too. Penny was barking and howling early this morning, so I got her up and it was a good 20 minutes before she went to the bathroom. Of course part of the problem is she is sooooooo excited to get out of the crate. She rolls around and jumps all over the place. It takes her forever to calm down in the morning. Once she went to the bathroom I took her to bed with me. Probably not a good idea, but I did it. |

| I actually set a loud timer to go off to take my puppies out when they were just months old. You figure that they can hold it one hour for every month they are old. I gave up and let them sleep with me, setting the timer to avoid an accident. Guess I'm a push-over.

| My puppy used to do this, I started putting my dirty shirt in his crate the night before and he'd eventually stop. As he got older he started doing it again whenever my morning alarm went off. He'd bark, cry and pout. I just ignore him and he stops after a few minutes but it took time. At first he would cry and bark constantly. I would leave him in the crate until he'd stop, which used to take up to an hour. He eventually learned that barking and crying doesn't do him any good. It just takes persistence....being even more stubborn than a Yorkie is hard! |

| Where does your yorkie sleep at night? It seems we have to keep our baby in our bedroom or she will cry all night. I hear people who have other breeds of dogs say they put the crate in another room so they don't have to hear any barking. I can't imagine my little baby sleeping in another room. My husband says that's out of the question. I was wondering what other yorkie owners do at night.

| My yorkie sleeps in his crate all night. In the morning, I let him sleep with me. |
