| ![]() When Jesse was younger he would use the pad, then we got him to go outside. And now he will only pee outside. I feel like I am throwing away my money when I buy pads or the spray because it dosent' do a bit of good. Like I said he potty's outside but leaves "Jesse Nuggets" on the carpet. If you put down a pad he won't potty at all until you take him out. But the minute you leave or go to bed he poops in the floor. |

| ![]() Deb refuses to go outside. I can keep her out there for an hour and she just wont go. She is doing pretty good with her pee pad in her pen. What she isnt getting is that when she is not in her pen that she needs to use the peepad. She is only out when we can keep a really close eye on her, but I was wondering if it is a good idea or bad idea to have more than one peepad in the house? I dont want to confuse her.

| ![]() I am having the oppisite problem. Ciera will poop on her pee pads but she won't pee on them. Now she has gotten so that she does not want to go at all and will whine and cry to be let out of her xpen. If I get her out and take her straight outside, she goes very good, but if not she goes in the floor. My husband don't want her trained for outside, because he doesn't want to have to go outside and stand with her when it is raining or cold weather this winter. We have had "discussions" about this, because she seems to go very well outside, but he just keeps telling me its crazy. If she has to pee while in her pen, she will pee in the floor where ever she is and won't go on her pad. Otherwise, when she is out in the kitchen or in the living room with us, she goes where ever she is and will not let us know when she wants out. How can you fix this??

| ![]() I hope someone on here can offer you some good advice...I unfortunatly am at a loss. Deb is doing somewhat better going on her pad when she is in her pen...but she still has no concept of going outside....no matter how long we stay out there, so we have stopped trying to potty outside. She poops in her crate if I put her in it...so I have given up on the crate all together. When we have her out of the pen, we are watching her every second and if she sniffs the ground even a little....back to her pen she goes. She has been pretty good the last two days going once she is back in her pen...going pretty quickly once she is in there...most of the time on the pad....but she has no concept of going to find the pad on her own. This is very frustrating! Good thing she is so cute!!!

| ![]() Hi there, My Toby is 9 weeks, he goes outside when I am home and knows what to do when he is outside as well. He will try to go in the house if he can though...I have put down puppy pads in the house, I tried 1 first, and then I had 2 down for a while.... Here is the thing, he will not go on the pad. I have had him for 10 days now, and like the girl said before I know this will not happen overnight, but I think he has only went on the pad maybe a total of 5 or 6 times, and only peeing. I really don't want to have him going in the house at all even if it is on a pad, but I would like an emergency place that he could go potty if he absolulely has too. I also was wondering about confining him to a certain space. I was thinking about trying to crate train, but he cries bloody murder when I leave the room or put him in the spare room. I am just really confused. I am really happy that he is going outside, but know that he is unable to hold it all day while my husband and I are at work. Any Help or Suggestions is Welcome!!!!! And I wanted to let you all I am praising praising praising him for going outside!!!!YEAH! |

Second, potty training: Toby is still young so is going to take some time for him to get the potty training. There are two words that are very important , Consistency and Patience. If you want him to use the pad, you need to show him where it is and tell him potty. If you see him like is going to go take him to the pad and praise him when he goes. When you take him outside you need to do the same, tell him to go potty and praise when he goes. If he has an accident and you see him take him rite away to the pad or outside and tell him go potty and dont forget to praise him. I only pad train Gucci, she is 1 yr old. When I take her for walks and she goes I praise her. She still uses her pads and sometimes has accidents but is my fault for not changing the pad when soiled. Is funny cause she will go next to the pad.

For the long hours: I hate to think of a pup this young penned up for 8 hours, any breed, alone for that long...This is a formative period for socialization, and your pup will flourish best if they are given a warm social upbringing. You might want to consider either a puppy day care, or taking lunches off to go home and walk the dog. A dog walking service might also be a good place to look. Know any stay-at-home friends with puppys who might want to watch her in the days? Use your noodle, and you can probably cook up some way to minimize the ammount of crate/pen/alone time your pup has. This will go a long way toward building trust and developing the trainability of your pup; Potty and otherwise.

| ![]() Wow, my chuppie would not poo on his pads. He would poo everywhere but his pads. After reading this thread about three months ago, i started putting two pads down for him. He has been using one for his pee and the other for his poo. There is an occasional poo accident. I want to start taking him outside now. |
