You should stick to outdoor training. There will be accidents with a pup this young. That's just a fact of puppy life. 'Nothing in heaven functions as it ought', so the poet says.
For the long hours: I hate to think of a pup this young penned up for 8 hours, any breed, alone for that long...This is a formative period for socialization, and your pup will flourish best if they are given a warm social upbringing. You might want to consider either a puppy day care, or taking lunches off to go home and walk the dog. A dog walking service might also be a good place to look. Know any stay-at-home friends with puppys who might want to watch her in the days?
Use your noodle, and you can probably cook up some way to minimize the ammount of crate/pen/alone time your pup has. This will go a long way toward building trust and developing the trainability of your pup; Potty and otherwise.
