| ![]() I really have a hard time with my 12 month Yorkie named Rocky pad training him. He's been doing his business on the floor a lot and it's very rare he does it on the pad. I'm currently pad training him and I would like to get tips. I don't have a crate, but I have a pen, though the pen is small, but not confined space, he still about to move around just a tiny little. It's a triangle shape with 2by2by2foot. My days with him are 8am wake up, sometime potty on my room floor already or rarely goes on the pad when I wakes up. He done it already ![]() ![]() ![]() During time rest of the time he hangs out with me on my bed or on the couch watching tv. Any help here? Why hes choose not to do it on the pad? |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I am having trouble with my JoJo. When I take him out and he pees, he gets a treat. I think that dog has me figured out. If I am gone, he gets no treat, he will just pee on the towel by the dog bed. Or on the little carpet. This Yorkie is a year old. I trained him to pee on pee pee pads in the house. (Probably a mistake) Now he will go out when I take him, but has accidents in the house when I am gone. I thought a dog would not pee on his bed. He does. What is up with this Yorkie? He is cute but does not want to be trained My Way! Thanks! Sandy Simpson |

| ![]() I am new to this thread and also new to be a puppy owner (im 37 and its my first dog). We have a 10 week old yorki-chon. I'm very stressed over potty training. My first question is how often do i take her out and how long do we stay outside if she doesnt go immediately. Also, has anyone used a bell on the door and does it work? Lastly, she sleep ALOT. I'm assuming like human babies, that is normal? she is sleeping in her crate all night and is dry in the morning. in the 3 days we've had her she had 2 poop accidents inside, no peep yet. does this sound normal and on track? |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Congratulations on your new addition to the family! There is nothing like the love of a dog! My favorite saying-All you need is love and a dog! The potty training is an issue. I wish I had trained my male Yorkie to go outside. I trained him on a pee pee pad inside and now it is hard to get him to go out all the time. So train yours to go out if you want that to happen. Stay out there with her until you see her go. Then praise and treat. Some Yorkies are easy to train and some like my JoJo are a little tougher. Don't give up! |

If you do a mixture of in house and outside potty training... will it leave them confused and untrained one way or the other? | |

| ![]() I have a very tiny morkie puppy (about 10 weeks old, 1.5 pounds) that I am trying to potty train indoors. He is too small to be taken outside (he shakes like a leaf everytime he goes out for even a second). I bought him a big indoor puppy tent-house, which I divided with a barrier so that the front would be his home and the back would be his potty. I cut a small door so that he can get to the back easily. However, he really does not like going in there and always runs as far away as possible to the back of the apartment to go to the bathroom. I know that a dog's instinct is not to go where he 'lives' but I'm wondering if this is something I can train him to get over, or is it doing him damage by trying to force him to go in the back of his house? |

| ![]() My pup is 11 weeks old and I'm not sure if I can start putting him on the schedule yet. I'm not sure if he can hold his pee for 8 hours that I'll be gone since I'm working. No one's going to be home with him while I'm gone so I'm very anxious about leaving him in the crate. I tried leaving him before (although it might be my fault) and peed and pooped in there. So now I am kind of scared to leave him. At night he lets me know that he needs to pee by crying at night. He's peeing more in the pad than outside. He rarely goes outside to poop too. He pees just a little. We take him outside to try to teach him how to potty there, but even if we stayed outside for about half an hour, he still won't go. I'm so frustrated with potty training right now. His crying and this potty training. ![]() |

![]() As far as the crate, I would not leave a pup in a crate for 8 hrs and expect him not to relieve himself.. A general rule of thumb is they can hold their bladder for approx same amount of hours as is their age in months. For ex: a two month old can expect to hold it two hours, etc. An expen, with peepads on one side, and crate/or bed and water/ food on the other side is your best bet.
