| Don't Give Up! Hi there! I can understand your frustrations. Potty training is a lot of work and it takes time. I think you're doing the right things. As the others have said, consistency is the key. The other thing, too, is that your little fella is still very young. I've been told that small puppies don't get complete control over their bladder until about 6 months old. (Sorry, can't recall exact source.) So there may be little accidents and such along the way, but don't let that get you discouraged.

| I've had problems with my puppy not telling me he has to go potty too. I tried the bell and he also freaks over the sound. I wonder what it is they hate about bells?

it is the medium sized crate that they have at pet smart with his bed and food and toys in there i do keep a puppy pad in he bottom just incase of any accidents!! though he NEVER goes potty in his crate.. this morning i got up with my daughter to get her ready for school(she is in 1st grade) and in the process i took him outside and he went pottyi think he is really getting used to it though and really liking the treats.. though he is not liking the cold weather at all so he goes and runs up back on the porch and barks to let me know he is done!!! but man i know what you mean about keeping them in their crate i am having a hard time i feel sooo bad and since i am a stay at home mommy my 2 little ones ALWAYS wanna get him out and they can't stand keeping him in there.. though i just explain what we are doing and at the end we ge to take him shopping and they are ok after that, lol.

| going potty I am new to this forum, but my 7month old is still not potty trained. It sounds like the other ones. He gives us this weird yawn sound, we take him out, but most of the time you can be out there for 15 mins. or more and all he wants to do is sniff everything! After he's inside, he'll find a place and go. I tried the puppy pads but he just lays on them. Maybe I'll try the leash thing. |

wel putting Gunther on the leash and leaving him out there for a little while then going back when he barks has really worked.. though i ONLY give him a treat when he goes potty outside and when he comes in he goes straight back in his crate.. i feel horrible doing it but it is teaching him to bark to go potty.. though we have went twice outside today and he has went though it is still early in the mornign so we will see... and yeah i can't do the potty pads he started ripping them up!! well good luck with your furbaby!!

| It sounds like what you're doing is working. I am considering trying the crate thing but I'm such a softy that I would have a hard time. I'm also wondering what he would think. He has never been crated before so I don't want him to think he's in trouble or that we don't want to be with him. I might get a couple more baby gates to give him just a small area to be in. |
