2 Year Old Yorkshire Terrier Housebreaking Assistance Needed. Hello everyone, I have a 2 year old Toy Yorkshire Terrier who has been a good puppy and has been wee wee trained for the majority of his life. But recently he has ventured away from the pad to include many areas of the house and I have no clue how to get him to just go back on the wee wee pad. Can anyone lend some advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

Get the house cleaned up of the smell of pee..... Him being able to smell it not you. Dogs smell is amazing and even if it gone to us it is not to them. Start training all over again like you would a puppy with lots of love and support. I also check to see if he got a UTI or a problem with his works as that will cause them to pee else were. JL

| The above suggestions are GREAT. Get yourself some good enzyme cleaner (popular brands are Simple Solution, Nature's Miracle, and PetZyme). This is important because the enzymes actually eat away at the uric acid particles stuck in your carpet fibers. Regular carpet cleaners cannot get rid of the smell. You just spray the stain (you might want to get a black light) and let it sit overnight. Then use a steam cleaner and clean over the stain. After all this, start training all over. You could even crate if you needed to. The most important thing is to catch them in the act of doing it right and PRAISE and TREAT. Positive reinforcement is the best training method.

I'd also suggest crating when you are away from the house. I used belly bands when they roamed free in the house....Good luck.

Peeing in outside, but pooing in the house Hi, I just joined this Yorkie forum & hope I can get some answers to a couple of questions. First of all, though, I have a 9 mo. old Yorkie boy named Bubba. He's the absolute light of my life, but I'm sure everyone thinks that about their Yorkies. Bubba has 3 'sister's' that are Bearded Collies. They are Sadie, Tia & Clancy. He's been with us for 5 mo. now & Clancy still is not happy about him being here. She spends a lot of time under the bed to get away from him. The other 2 girls are o.k. with him. Anyway, on to my question. My sister has a 9 mo. maltese/yorkie girl, named Chloe. She goes outside to do her pee's but does her poo's in the house & won't tell her she needs to go out. Any ideas on how to correct this? Another question about posting to this group. How do I get an icon to appear in my email? I checked beside the one I want to use, but nothing appears. Jane, Sadie, Tia, Clancy & Bubba

Is he neutered? Is he home alone for long periods of time? They do tend to 'regress' with potty, so go back to basics and use a really good treat - that you give for 'good' potty only. Also, I would take him for a good 15 to 20 min walk, every morning, he may be bored and this walk every morning will give him the extra attention and also give him exercise and stimuli to tire him out and not allow him to do bad things from bordum during the day. If he is not neutered, I would suggest you get him fixed asap. As he may be marking - plus it is actually healthy for him to be neutered, less chance of cancer.
