| 2 nites in my bed in a row the other day i was reading a thread on should you let your babies sleep with you right away or wait til there potty trained? well i got some really good tips. it seems lots of you guys out there let your babies sleep with you reguardless of potty training and only few reported accidents . well i decided to try it out for myself against my honnies wishes........i must say the last couple of nights i was so worried lucky would fall off the bed that i hardly slept @ all. but he did great not one accident so far (keeping my fingers crossed). the 1st morning i woke him up around 6am and put him in his room while i put on my shoes to take him outside, but by the time i found them he had already did his business on the peepee pad. well mostly ........sometimes he doesnt have his whole body on the pad and he ends up peeing on the floor. any sugg on how to get him all the way on the pad? or does it just come with practice..........i dont get mad though i know he tried since it wasn't in the middle of the floor like it use to be. this morning i work up the same time but i held him in my arms til i put my shoes on, then i took him outside. he did his business in less than a minute than he did his usual barking @ the birds . thanks for the tips and hopefully he will keep up the good work....................... here are some new pictures of lucky i took yesterday. i know he looks a little crazy but i took him to the groomer for the 1st time and he butchered my boy bad..... i was really upset when he handed me this skinny looking snauzer looking dog but he was still momma's cute little button/ hopefully it will grow back soon Ü. i tried to do a before and after shot but im a dork so its reversed

| He's so cute. As far as the sleeping in teh bed with you I really think its a personal choice. I think you have to make it based on the kind of person and sleeper you are. My little girl haas had a couple of accidents but honestly it didn't stop us from letting her sleep with us. She doesn't always sleep with us now but in the beginning she always did. She loves playing in the ditches and mud outside so if she's dirty she sleeps in her crate. I will say if you feel him wake up in the middle of the night just keep an eye on him or go ahead and take him out. Sometimes in the middle of the night they will have to go potty. As for keeping him on the pad, I suggest putting the pads in some sort of box. I used a box that was a few inchs high that I found at Walmart. It's like a clear rubbermaid box, I think its used for storage under beds. I also think petsmart has boxes made especially for pads. Its up to you. If you use a box though he actually has to get inside something and therefore he's got to be on the pad nor can he wander off in the middle of going(this was Reagan's problem). She can't stop long enough to go she has to keep moving while going.

| Sounds very good. He certainly is a cute little guy! Throughout many, many years of having our babies sleep in bed, there hasn't been an accident. At our house, yorkies aren't considered animals.

| Hi I just signed up on yorkietalk and truly enjoy lots of information and experience exchanges by everyone. I could not resist responding to you as I would love for my Tiger to one day sleep with me in bed. I just got him a week ago and already we are bonding bigtime. He takes lots of naps being that he is only 8 weeks old but he just loves to sleep on my lap. Hopefully, when the weather is better I can buy him a nice pillow to sleep on for short naps. For now, he sleeps in his crate (in our bedroom of course) and has not had an accident. Last edited by Tiger's Mom; 12-01-2005 at 05:36 PM. |

| That is so cool. My baby is also names TIGER!!!He is turning 8 months on Dec 6. He sleeps with me and never did had any accident. Its like he trained himself, whenever he want to pee pee or pooh pooh, he just tries to lick my face non stop to get attention and when I put him in his cage he does his thing there. I am so happy with him. Thank God I got him! |

| My baby sleeps in a crate...if she's out of her crate she wont go potty on my bed but she'll bark all night trying to "protect" me from what she hears. If she was going potty in my bed..I wouldn't let her sleep with me, that is aweful! I would get your puppy a nice crate and make it comfy.

| Update on my Yorkie's sleeping habit . . . Hello DocShe . . . .I truly envy you but it looks like It won't be for long and I will be doing the same thing. We already had a great morning start . . . .at about 5 am Tiger needed to go pee so I took him to the laundry room to relieve himself (He sleeps soundly in his crate in our bedroom so I know when he needs to go as he makes a little noise). Anyway, I decided to just not go to bed so we played fetch. By 5:30am, I decided to go back to bed and thought to bring Tiger with me. I put on his harness as it seems to calm him down whenever he has it, and brought this big animal bone along (leftover from Osso Bucco that my honey decided to clean up for his play toy) for company. Of course, everytime he relieves himself he gets his behind, 4 paws and thinging wiped down with hot warm face towel so he's always very clean . . . . well, he was well behaved for a few minutes and decided to take a nap with me. He must like the comforter and its warmth as he moved under the shets and settled himself in-between my legs and dozed off. I too slumbered away but not into a deep sleep because I wasn't sure if he'd be safe. After about 40 minutes he woke up and moved to my side with his back to the bed, all 4 paws in the air. I lightly massaged his tummy and before long, he dozed off again for about another 30 minutes. It was almost 7am before I decided he needed to wake up so I can get ready for work. Took him to the laundry room, fed him and got ready for work. As soon as I looked out the window, snow has started again and wind was blowing fiercely . . . .now I get to spend a few hours again with him until the weather improves! I hate driving in the snow but when we get lots of snow such as this morning, I welcome it because I have Tiger. My Tiger is only 8 weeks only and I just had him for a week. We got him the day after Thanksgiving but we laid eyes on him on thanksgiving day to check him out. He is a tiny 2 pounder but will grow anywhere between 4 to 6 lbs because of his parents. You know, when I responded to you last night, I wasn't paying much attention to your location. I just realized it showed "Philippines". Well, surprise surprise, I too am filipino . . . . great! |

| Both of my little girls sleep in our bed and I love it. Chloe has not had any accidents but Daisy had one on Thanksgiving in our bed. When I got out of bed at 4 am to put the ham in the oven I came back upstairs and Daisy had peed right in the middle of my bed. Surprisingly I didnt even care and just stripped my sheets curled back up and went back to sleep!!! My babies could get away with murder!
