| Potty Training help please!!! I'm absolutely at a loss when it comes to potty training. We have the pads and a spray that you're supposed to put on the pads to attract the dog to it...doesn't work. He just drags the pad around and plays with it. We have a little harness, which is the smallest one we could find and it's still to big. He fights it, hates the leash... I take him outside and he never ever uses the bathroom. He's more interested in playing and eating the grass, rocks, dirt, etc... But he poops in the same place in the house and I have no idea where he pees. He's constantly running around and so am I so I almost always miss when he goes. We live in an apartment and when we go outside it's quite a trip out to the grass. I need some serious help...

| This is just my suggestion, hopefully someone who lives in an apartment will be able to jump in here. I would not crate him, you need to get an x-pen (they have them at petsmart but the exact same thing cheaper at I think k-mart (kids section)) also some might have links to cheaper here online. Right now he's ruling the roost, going where ever he wants & you need to limit that. In his x-pen you can have bed, toys, & food- put the pee pads in one corner to keep him from chewing or playing with the pee pad trying putting deodarant on the corners & you may have to make a few swipes on the pad itself (I used sure invisible solid-powder scent) FINALLY after the long haul I got her using the cloth pee pads for the past 3 weeks THANK GOD!! life has been alot easier since so I've got to happily invest in some of those. It's alot of work but so worth it! Do you intend for him to be pee pad trained only? outside trained only? I know they like to limit the amount they are outside or exposed to high traffic dog areas until they have had all they're shots-just something to ponder- Best of Luck

| Honestly, I'd like to have him inside trained. I'll be going back to work in about 2 months and no one will be home to take him outside. Thanks for the X-Pen info. I'm going to head over the site right now and look at them. Right now we have a small pet carrier. He'll sleep in it on occasion, but absolutely goes nuts if I put the door on and lock him in. Our hallway is linked to our kitchen and we're able to block off the entrance into the living room area with a baby gate. Even with all that space he still barks and yelps until someone brings him into the room with everyone else. ** When u said X-pen, do u mean "excercise pen"? I can't find anything at petsmart specifically named X-pen.

| If he's going to be inside trained I DEF suggest the x-pen it has saved my life! plus I like to know Regan is safe while I'm not here. Yep, that's why I was irritated I bought my x-pen at the petsmart store & then I was looking online one day (I'm pretty sure k-mart) & they had the SAME thing brand & everything in the kids section way way cheaper! if you need anything let me know!

| I just bought one of those pens for Miley, she is 5 months old and NOT potty trained, nor does she care LOL. Dudley was 7 months when we got him and he was pretty well trained, just had to perfect him, but he was easy. Miley on the other hand LOL. I put the pen in our Breakfast Room off the Kitchen. |

| How old is your little one? I never did the crate thing but I kept Teddi in a playpen that had a pad and her bed and food in it for about the first 8 months of her life then I moved her to the kitchen with a gate for the next 4 or so months. It seemed like it took a long time for her to catch on (compared to my standard poodle) but also she can't hold it as long either. It is much better to confine them when you are not there so you don't get frustrated or mad at them. Teddi never played with the pee pad so I don't know about that but I know they make some kind of plastic thing that you can put the pad in and they can't get to it...it's like a holder for the pee pad, maybe you can try that. I am so glad that for the last 3 months Teddi now has the whole house and she knows where her pads are and is happy to be able to hang out with her big sister (my standard poodle) all day! Which really, I think they play for about half an hour and then sleep all day!!

| I live in an apartment and she is potty trained Camila is only 11 weeks old and she does her stuff outside. She sleeps in her crate and when i take her off in the morning ,i immediately take her out to do her stuff and say restroom and praise her. then feed her and take her 10 min after to a walk. then feed her til the night and take her again and say restroom. i also leave the balcony open when i am around,so that she can pee or pupp outside. a huge recommendation,if she pupps inside, clean immediately,so that she cant relate that place to her restroom, while on the balcony leave it at least one day,so that she can feel the smell and go outside and do it.praise her and she would understand. She sleeps in the crate since she was 5 week and i got her at 8 and she slept all night. i cover the crate with a blanket so that she feels she has her space and she loves it.i call her crate home. it took her 2 weeks to love it |
