Where does your yorkie sleep? I was just wondering where your yorkie(s) sleep. Our pug sleeps in bed with us and I'd like our yorkie to do that as well. My husband says otherwise. He's mainly just worried about rolling over onto him. I'm more worried about pottying in bed (since we're still working on potty training). He's good about holding it all night and first thing when we get up I take him to his pee pad and wait till he does both. Anyway, just wanted some opinions! Thanks. Treena and Bruno

Hercules sleeps in his kennel. We're afraid of hurting him as well during the night. And he's also only 4 months, so of course the potty training is an issue as well. Maybe when he's older we'll let him sleep in bed with us. He's also in his kennel during the day when we are at work. He seems to be doing pretty well with the kennel overall.

How did you get Hercules to tolerate his kennel? Bruno will go into his crate (it's a soft crate) to chew on a toy or if I put him in it to nap but I can't seem to get him comfortable enough to zip it shut.

| Sandy, who is half Yorkie and an older dog who we rescued sleeps in bed with us, under the covers, by my feet. I think it's a security thing with her. Every time she naps or sleeps, she has to have a blanket covering her. We tried the crate with her but she really didn't do well, and since she is 100% potty trained, I don't mind that she doesn't use it. BUT when I get my Yorkie puppy it will be crate trained from day one. All of my other dogs have been and it really makes potty training and many other things easier for the dog and for ME

toby WAS sleeping in bed with us, he NEVER peed on the bed, he got kicked off because i wanted to associate aour little confinement area with something other that us leaving him alone, so now i put him in there during the night when we are there as well as when we leave..... i was worried about the pee on the bed thing too, (especially since he tended to sleep ACROSS MY NECK..... ) it was a little difficult to breath/swallow so that is another reason he got booted to his area....lol

Bentley either sleeps in bed with us or in his dog bed on the floor beside the bed, depending on his mood. I've heard that they are not supposed to be allowed on the bed while they are still potty training, but Bentley has never had an accident on the bed and starts walking on me in the middle of the night if he needs to go. We don't move around much when we sleep, so we don't worry about smooshing him. He also sleeps up by our heads (between us) which is very cute as he thinks he is a person and usually has to put his head on a pillow just like us

You must have been reading my mind... I was thinking about posing the same question last night! The first night we got him at 7 weeks, I put him in his crate. He whimpered a little and then would go to sleep. I'd wake him up and take him out and put him back in his crate. But after 2 nights, I put him in our bed. He sleeps where ever he wants to... between the pillows, between my DH's feet, next to me or one of the other 2 dogs sleeping under the covers. He's NEVER done in anything in the bed... usually sleeps all night. Occasionally he wakes up to go out, but will walk over to me and stand on my face LOL He loves his crate, which we keep in our bedroom, and will happily go get in if he's tired and wants a nap. We also have a sherpa-type bed in the living room where he hoards all his toys and plays and naps there if we're in the living room watching tv. During the day, while we work, he stays in the large guest bathroom, with a gate up. I put his little bed in there, toys, food/water and a pee pad. He does very well, and only wets on the pee pad. But he can't wait until I get home so he can go out to poop. He'll be 11 weeks Friday and I am amazed at how well he is doing in the housetraining arena. I have to confess, he does like to get treats when the "goes", and tried the fake-peeing with me, but I caught on to that pretty quickly, especially when he'd come in and make a little puddle on the floor about 2 minutes after I'd taken him out. But I love my little fur-babies to sleep with me. We cuddle and play right before the lights go out... what a special time!! Cyndie and Trevor

Definately in the kennel....... Both my yorkies sleep together in the same kennel. I think that's why we have our littlest one so used to it. I started kenneling them right when we got them. It's their security. I also have a fav stuffed animal and a blankie in there too, along with a soft fleece bottom. The only time they go in there now though is for bedtime and when we're gone. Our oldest yorkie could stay out, because she doesn't have accidents anymore, but I would feel aweful kenneling Mia if I didn't kennel Muffy. Anyways, that's what we do.

| Most Yorkies sleep where elephants sit!! Anywhere they want to!!! I think that once everyone adjusts to each other that most of our babies sleep wherever works out best! For Toto that's 1/2 of our king sized bed .... which leaves 1/4 each for Patrick and me! We have her little "up & down" stair next to the bed and she gets herself to her wee wee pad during the night without waking us!! Life is good!

We sleep on twin beds in our little Casita and Higgins bounces back and forth between our beds during the night. He walks across the table between the beds. And he gets up and down during the night to pee on his pad (always) and poop in the aisle (always, so we grab a flashlight and check before putting a foot down). Pogo always sleeps at my feet. If it's cold, he's under the covers. Pogo has always been my personal heater. It sure gets a little crowded when both of them are in bed with me! I weigh 240 and the bed is only 30" wide...........

Dean slept in his impromptu kennel the first two nights. Kinda have to do it this way b/c he is not fully housetrained. Now, the others sleep wherever they want, sometimes under the covers depending on how cold it is. I put a quilt over three sides of Dean's kennel and when he whined I tapped on it with the first thing I could find -- an old green glass coke bottle I have as a knick knack on my bedsie table. It worked wonderfully. (Thanks whoever suggested the tapping to make them stop whining!) Dean is 3 1/2 lbs -- I'm afraid I'd roll over on him!
