We once let Yoda sleep on our bed, and ever since... well, you can guess where he sleeps, eh?

Ranger sleeps with us in bed since the crate training didn't go over so well. I was hard core about him staying in a crate, but FH couldn't sleep with him crying and barking the whole night. The whining and such ceased when we let him sleep with us, and he still hasn't had any accidents in the bed. Plus I love the fact that he's big enough to jump up and down on his own without waking us.

Our Gucci sleeps by the side of our bed in her puppy bed. We have a wee wee pad by the door of our bedroom and one in the bathroom. The first 2 nites when she came home she slept in our bed. Then my husband close the hallway that leads to the bathroom with a baby gate to keep her in that area. Needless is to say that my hubby and kids kept leaving the gate open so she has accidents once in a awhile. When she is loose on the leaving room she is lazy and goes there. She is being on treatmeant for ringworm since we got her, so our intetion was to keep her confined to the hallway but of course we couldnt do that to her so now she runs loose when we are home, but when we go out for a little bit we keep her in the hallway with the gate close. She doesnt cry at all, but she does barks everytime she senses something. Gucci will be 6 months Jan 10.

Our two allow us to sleep in their queen size bed. we get only a portion of it. Buckeye under the sheets and Ahia stretching out. Our bed has gone to the dogs!

Good job! I read in one of my training books that if they do something you don't like ... respond in kind with something that THEY don't like, i.e., lightly tap on the wire part of their kennel! Operative word here ... "lightly" tap! We taught Toto in one short afternoon that barking was not acceptable except at appropriate times ... now that's one thing she learned well and she never ever barks [we can't stand yipping] unless she is playing or occasionally when she is startled. Also, in conjunction with the "tap" if you say "no" then pretty soon all you have to do is say a firm "no" and that's all it takes! I think a lot of people confuse "firm" with "mean or loud". We don't allow anyone to speak to Toto in angry, loud or mean sounding voices ... it's not necessary and certainly does nothing but scare her! If you use commands with just a word or two then they actually learn the words. It's easier for them and much, much easier for us!

Default They sleep right with us!

We have a queen sized bed, and one of our cats sleep there, along with our two yorkies! They snuggle with us, keeping us very warm. I have done that since I first got them, and they never had an accident on the bed. They always hold it all nite, always have, since tiny 8 wks old! If it's cold in the house, they go under the covers. We have never slept on them or hurt them. You know where they are and they know where you are. I get up a couple of times during the nite, too, and it always works out fine!

Default lol just a thought..

everyone talking about their pets curled up with them in bed keeping them warm makes me think about the hot flashes and 2 yorkies and a husband curled up with me. Those of you who have ever experienced those dreadful power surges know that is almost impossible to tolerate more heat curled around you. LOL

Hot flashes & all Mia sleeps w/ me. Have you tried Revival Soy? It has all but eliminated mine. Just drink 1 shake around noon or eat a rice krispie like bar. I was totally amazed.
I can actually sleep now.

Archie moves around. He sleeps in his little doggy bed in the foyer area, sometimes on the couch, whereever he wants for naps. But at night, he will come in and sleep on the bed with me around 12 or 1 and wakes up when my boyfriend gets home at 4:30. Until he comes home, Archie sleeps near his pillow but as soon as he comes home, Archie moves to the foot of the bed on my side. But when we have guests, he likes to sleep with them in the spare room. I think I might have squished him once but he barked. Maybe if you try allowing your yorkie to sleep next to you, he'll figure out the best spots where he's least likely to be hurt. Dogs have a natural instinct to protect, so they like to be near you and they're very sensitive to slight movements, etc. Atleast Archie is.

hi all

im thinking of buying my pup a doggie bed.. but will she sleep in it or should I wait till she's bigger? Im afraid she'll rip things apart coz thats what she does to her blanket. And anyone put a sweater/shirt on their yorkies to keep them warm at night? will they go crazy if you try to dress 'em?

Here's where Otis sleeps. Of course, take note that he's SMACK in the center of the bed, which leaves me hanging off the sides!!

I don't think Otis is comfy enough in the middle of that bed, Junebug!

I guess we're sorta lucky that Yoda sleeps at the bottom of the bed (with our feet)? Though he does come up for some Mommy warmth in the middle of the night, but his heating pad is on all night for him as well.

Obie (3/4 Yorkie and 1/4 poodle, 5 pounds) sleeps in bed with me. As a puppy, he slept in a pen next to my bed, and I would take him up into my bed for a cuddle in the morning, after he had used his pad and I knew it was safe. This gradually morphed into just spending the night with me, as he got more completely pad-trained and the winter got colder. People talk about the danger of them getting squashed, but Obie seems to be on top of the situation and move out of the way when I move. A friend of mine whose chihuahua sleeps with her says the same thing. He likes to nestle in behind my knees, or further down, by my feet.

my little beaker boy sleeps in bed with us everynight, he is either laying across on my neck, snug between my chin and top of chest, or at the top of my head or when i lay on my side curled up right next to me.
