| Potty training Hi everyone! I just joined the community and I have a question about training my 8 month old "Tabitha". She's doing great going potty and poopy outside, I'm just don't know how to teach her how to let us know she needs to go. My husband and I are taking her outside every day at the same time and she will go each time. She is currently on a 6 ft leash in the kitchen so that she doesn't go on the carpet. How can I ween her off the leash and train her to go to the patio door to show me she has to go potty without us having to take her each time? I want her to be able to be free in the house but I'm afraid she'll poop or pee on the carpet. We have an 11 year old rot/chow mix (they get along great) that will go along behind her and probably pee on top of what she has done and we're trying to avoid that. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! Orlynn |

| Try using potty bells. You hang them from the door knob low enough for baby to bite at them and jingle them. Put a dab of peanut butter on the bottom bell to entice. Whenever you take baby outside to eliminate, ring the bells. Graduate to assisting baby to ring the bells on his own. In time, he will associate ringing the bell with being let outside to eliminate. To make the bells, just go to your craft store and get some leather lacing and some medium to large size sleigh bells, Tie a bell onto the lacing every few inches until you have a chain of bells. Create a loop of lacing at one end to hang over a door knob. It is really easy.

| Thank you Gracie, I will try that. Tabitha was just running around playing with Taz and decided to potty on the carpet. Thats the first time shes done that. When we take her outside she knows what to do, she just doesn't know how to communicate to us to let her out, thats the frustrating part. Thanks again! Orlynn |
