| Harness under a life jacket? I just got an Outward Hound lifejacket for my girl Bailey and a Fido Float Life Vest for my boy Buster. They both wear harnesses whenever we go on walks or vacation, and they usually have collars on for just going outside for potty breaks at home. Their collars have ID tags, and their harnesses have ID tags and their rabies-shot tags. I'm wondering if people remove harnesses when using a life jacket and put the tags on the life jacket, have their yorkie wear a collar with the tags, or keep their harness on? I didn't see a hook on the lifejacket to put tags on. I don't want the tags to squish into their skin under the life vest, but I am not sure if that would happen or not. We attempted a visit to a lake last year but didn't stay long and I didn't have lifejackets at that time, but since we're at the lake for an extended period of time this vacation I got the life jackets. Just want to be prepared! Thanks in advance for any tips!

| I left both Sydney's harness and collar on her under her Fido life Vest. I always keep her on a leash, so the harness remains on her when outside or in the water. The only thing is that her collar turned the hair around her neck pink when it got wet. She looked very punk. lol Perhaps you can attach the tags to the handles on the life vest? |

| We only put harnesses on them when they are going on or off the boat. Once we're on the boat, the harnesses come off. The few times that we've had them walking in their life vests, we hook a leash right onto the life vest. Mine don't usually wear collars, only during a doggie meetup.

| Jackson pretty much wears a collar 24/7 with tags so harness comes off when lifejacket goes on. But the main time he wears his lifejacket is in my dads pool which is a fenced in yard so the harness is unnecessary anyways. I imagine though that Jackson's puppia harness would be fine under it. I do believe the lifejacket has a place to attach a leash tho and it also has a handle, so maybe you can buy an extra cheap tag to keep on the jackets so you don't have to do all that tag switching??

| Thanks! Thanks for the replies! Sounds like lots of ways will work. I'd prefer to keep their harnesses on underneath since we'll be away from home and that way it should be easier to keep tags on them at all times and also be easier to get them leashed when the jackets come off. I might just move the tags on their collars and put those tags on the life jackets (they hardly ever wear their collars on vacation since they will have their harnesses on almost all the time). Thanks for the tips, I am super excited for a vacation. We leave Friday!

| The lake was GREAT! Bailey was a FAST swimmer with her Outward Hound lifejacket, I couldn't believe how fast she was! Buster needs more practice to get the hang of swimming I think. I'm not sure how much they enjoyed the lake, but I sure had fun and we all stayed safe! I kept their harnesses on underneath their lifejackets & that seemed to work fine. Thanks for the tips!
