| Sorry you gave up on the showing part. It is not an easy thing to learn all the whys and wherefores of the show rings. Hope you do find a good home for this little guy soon. Yes you certainly can't keep them all and I know he will be happy in a good pet home. |

| I think I was learning the whys and wherefores-- It did take a while though, because I'm not naturally cunning. The part I'm still not understanding is what's the point. Two or three friends enter a bunch of dogs in a show to build up a few points. They've been on the scene a few years and are known to the judges. A newby showing up with a gorgeous dog will most likely be overlooked by most judges until a year or two of being out there every weekend and becomes a familiar face. The show regulars will make their dogs look good or bad depending on who they've decided amongst themselves should win the points. Voila, a champion is made, but what is that champion worth in a mostly rigged system? I know it isn't like that all the time everywhere, but I've seen and heard enough.

Tricky bit for me was to learn the judges and what they will do and which end of the lead will they judge. Another thing I learned along the way that my mentor taught me and she was right, professional handlers or many years experience breeder/owner/handlers can make a lesser dog look better even though maybe I have the better dog. And yes you do have to be out there consistently to become that familiar face called paying your dues. HOwever, having hung around the show rings for many years, been part of the show rings myself, there is nothing more pleasing than seeing a lovely show yorkie strutting their stuff around that ring with a good handler who knows what they are doing in presenting the dog. Yes I have seen some pretty poor quality put up for points, hard to fathom of course, but I don't know of anything where competing is involved where the system is perfect. Then there are also possibilities you would not know that a judge does because they actually examine the dog, such as poor bite, poor stifles, coat issue that sort of thing that you would not notice at ringside unless you knew the dog. Some judges will not put up certain things regardless. | |

| I can completely understand your point. I show American Shetland Ponies, and there are politics in that as well. It can be frustrating at times. We are at the point where we can hold our own against the professional trainers. Good luck choosing the right home for your boy.

| I would give him free---- I'd give him free to the TRUSTWORTHY breeder who can finish this dog. He's only a year old, he'll "body up" as some say he needs to do. He's not perfect but has a lot going for him, including the coveted straight topline. I'd stick with it except that the shows are so hard to get to from here and I'm clumsy as hell in the ring. There's more I won't post in public.

| You're very sweet-- 95% of it is desire to go in the ring, and I have absolutely none. Cooch needs majors and he's only a year old with lots of time left to get them. You want to finish him he's yours, and that's no fooling!

| Would love to....I love the shows and all those beautiful Yorkies with the attitudes for the ring......but I am rescue all the way and would not be able to breed him...so then we would have a champion...that I would want to neuter :-)

| Sampson... Oh wish I saw him that day...now he would be someone I would love Remember that day at the show with Izzie? She refused to walk on her lead outside the ring, but once she got in the ring she strutted like she owned the place. That is the attitude I love to watch at the shows. Cooch is just beautiful..... champion or not. He sounds like a very sweet boy and will make someone very happy.... price is reasonable too for our area considering you will neuter him....
