| Hi , After reading your letter I wanted to cry. I just started breeding my babies . How dare those idiots sell those babies so young! I went to a pet store today near where I live and asked if there were people who was interested in Yorkies and left my number. When asked if the babies would be ready after 8 weeks I just smiled and said I didnt think so. Since this is our first litter I loved hearing I was right and wont sell them until they are older. I dont care if they are teeny tiny when I sell them just so long as they go to good homes. We also have a red leg Yorkie. She is 4 pounds and very short hair. We got her from a breeder in Arkansas and was told her hair would come in . Well now I know what type of Yorkie she is but for a while I wasnt sure she was a yorkie.HaHa.....Anyways sorry to hear of you problem with that breeder. I know you love the baby. If you lived closer I would sell you on cheap to replace him but I have no plans on shipping any of the babies anywhere. Hope you have better luck in the future.... |

| I was looking for a female yorkie pup to buy and I found her site. She had a very cute girl she was selling named Jessie for $700 USD. I have never had a puppy shipped to me before and I had just ran into a shipping scam before her so I was kind of weary about doing it, plus the $700 they were asking included shipping cost to ship the pup from Oklahoma to me in Maryland. I know usually when people ship they add on another $250-$300. I had just run into a shipping scam and Chaffin asured me she was trustworthy and told me she had been scamed too and knows how it feels. Her telling me that comforted me and made me want to believe her. I still had a funny feeling about purchasing a pup form her and decided not to get the puppy and bought a female from elsewhere. Hearing this upsets me because I can see how she can come off as a trustworthy breeder, I'm sorry you had to go through this and wish you well and breeding success. THANKS FOR THE WARNING!!!! |

| I hesitate to add to this thread because I am one of the people that bought a Chaffin pup. Although I bought her from a lady in No Calif. that said her 'aunt' was a breeder in OK and she got the pups from her. Mind you, this was before I found this site and even knew people scam others selling pups. I was just looking for a lovable pet and was naive to all the other BS. I now realize I paid was too much...but I don't care because she is the best behaved, most loving, smartest lovey pup I could wish for. So, lesson learned and if I get another some day I will do my research

| Hi Everyone. Thanks for continuing to add to this thread -- I'm the one who started this thread and was scammed by the Chaffins. I recently bought another yorkie from the Indiana and asked alot of questions and had a wonderful experience buying another yorkie from Deb Beers (teapup.com). She was extremely honest, patient and professional. While I was looking for my third yorkie I came across another negative review about the Chaffins and contacted this person. This is the email she sent to puppyfind.com -- she sent me a copy as well. (I don't think the pictures will attach to this posting, if they don't the pictures she sent me are one of the puppy she thought she was getting -- a cute little puppy with tiny ears and a full coat -- and a picture of the puppy she got from the Chaffins-- a puppy with thin hair and large, gremlin like ears...). Anyways here's her email and her invitation for others to contact her if need be: Hi my name is Kim Gronewold and I've been scammed by (Chaffin Raised) web site is www.yorkiebabypup.com They did not send me the dog they were advertising. They were verbally abusive to us on the phone. Cissye's Husband was very discussing...Telling us we must have had a bad sex life , because we didn't like the puppy.. He said we must have had a bad life.. They kept telling us their computer was always down.. They would hang up the phone on us... It was so bad.. people like that should go to jail..The puppy was not even able to walk right when we got it. It was so sad, it hardly had any hair and it looked so unusually ugly.. She had said it was a doll face and it was black and tan.. I requested that she double check the color by spreading her fur and checking if there was any silver showing.. she said no...She said the dog would stay black and tan.. I wanted to make sure because that is what I wanted a dark yorkie.. Not a silver one. Well, when I got the dog, it was practically turning all silver.. She said she was a respected breeder and if she was... (She knew) she was sending me a mutt.. I went to my vet and he also agreed that it was not the same puppy... Markings were different and wrote up a letter that stated that the puppy was different.. I've attached a picture of what I was to get and what I got... I wrote a review and got a respond from another person and they were scammed also...Also as quick as I posted the review.. It disappeared.. They somehow got rid of it??? If you are a reputable company.. you need to get these people off your website (puppyfind.com) If you keep them on because they pay you... you are just as crooked as they are... I will be writing to all Dog registration companies, I will be posting this email on yorkietalk.com.. I believe that you can make a difference and stop people like this.. Let puppyfind remain reputable, do something about this breeder.. Hoping to hear from you. See attachment (pictures) And another letter of a buyer who was scammed by the Chaffins Kim Gronewold groniesusa@aol.com |

| I just wanted to thank you for posting this! I have been seriously considering a puppy they have listed on their site, but have now changed my mind. It is amazing to me what some people will do just to make money! Jessica |

Reading through this thread is making me sick to my stomach about these unethical breeders, but as I read further down I'm reading complaints about "Oh my yorkie was 1/2 bigger than what I wanted" and "I'm stuck with this dog" HOW HORRIBLE! I feel bad for the poor dogs that are stuck with owners who don't love them as much as they should be loved because of their size. Seems like there are unethical buyers out there too. Vainchick5 couldn't have said it better either, dogs are not accessories.

| My male puppy is now six pounds – a breeder in my area told me to neuter him b/c he will be too big to breed with my 5 lb. female. I have debated selling him and starting over with a new male, however, I will only get $800 for him if I’m lucky. Also my kids have become attached to him, and he to us … Unfortunately I want to stay as a small breeder and I am not in the position to own terriers I cannot breed. I am now in a real dilemma. not to get off the subject but your breeder is wrong...you can mate the two of them. one pound does not make any difference.

| Katys mom – Thanks for the inform., I will follow-up on this Olivier: Hi -- I notice you are from Canada as well – My first female (Kira) is 5 lbs. and the puppy I just got (Molly) is 2 ½ pounds. She is 20 weeks old and seems really tiny – I’m hoping she’ll reach 3 lbs. She’s healthy though and plays tag with my 5lb. and 9 lb. yorkie (Molly can’t keep up though – it’s funny to watch). In reply to several of you (Rae Rae, Red98Vet, RMKC and Diego) I’m surprised at how judgmental your posts are. I’ve been ignoring them, but decided it was time to reply. I feel terrible that MEISA, who was being so open and honest with us about her feelings continues to be judged so harshly. Given some time she DID bond and grow to love her new puppy – how many of us can say that we sew clothes for our dogs??? As for my 9 pounder (Tiko) -- he is adorably cuddly, hilarious and very much loved. He sleeps with us, loves to give kisses, and pushes all other dogs aside so he can “hog” my lap, loves to play wrestle, chase and be chased by my other 2 yorkies and by us, he lives for his treats, and gets boiled chicken breast added to all his meals – does that sound like a dog anyone needs to feel sorry for??? So, RMKC who wrote “all I can say is poor dogs”, and Red98Vet who wrote “I feel sorry for the yorkies that are getting kicked to the curb because they weigh a few pounds more than expected” and Rae Rae who wrote “seems there are unethical buyers out there” to which Diego states “Bravo”! -- please start to invest your energy into the real problem which is that there are breeders -- like the Chaffins -- who are taking advantage of us. Those of us who have been scammed may need more time to bond with a new puppy -- our hearts tell us it’s not the puppies fault – but unfortunately at first the puppy is a reminder that we have been tricked, lied to, conned, verbally abused, cheated, deceived and call it what you will. Those of us who have been scammed perhaps can be accused of being too trusting or having too much faith in mankind but to be called “unethical” this reeks of “blaming the victim”. Shame on you for referring to us as the unethical ones -- instead of supporting us to stop those that are truly the “unethical”. |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Since you referred to my post personally - I feel bad for you ...but I'll say it again - I feel more bad for the puppies when they aren't the size people think they can request - this is a living creature not a pair of pants- you get no guarantees. I'm sorry you feel taken advantage of and they do sound like just awful breeders - People can be SO nice when they want your money - once that's done in many cases you find the true personality of the breeder - they do sound terrible - but it's still NOT the puppies fault for being born and growing bigger than expected. |
