| ![]() I have a Biewer and they do not have their tails docked. My little girl has a very cute tail with long hair on it and it never stops moving!

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() I personally prefer docked...but would still buy a pup with a tail. Sadie's is WAY to short! just a little nub...bought Lillie from the same breeder and told her I wanted more of a "tail"...Lillies is not as short as Sadies but still short...Bentley's tail is probably about 2 1/2 3 inches...and I LOVE IT! it's always straight up and wagging!!

| ![]() I love the docked look. Mine like to play rough, I can bet if they had tails they would have been injured or broken by now. It is a personal decision and I don't think one way is better than another so why should docking not be allowed? One of my pups was born with a broken tail. Docking it removed the broken part. Some yorkies really do have thin fragile tails that could break easily but others have thicker tails where that wouldn't be a problem. A quick FYI on cropping ears in Dobermans, it isn't done just for cosmetic purposes. It is also done for sound location. When there ears are cropped, they can move their ears to locate the sound better. A doberman with cropper ears can localize the source of a sound to within a 5 degree cone, whereas a drop earred dog can only localize a sound source to within a 20 degree cone. Considering the working field the doberman is in, this is important and why their ears were cropped in the first place. I plan to get a doberman in the future, with cropped ears, so I've done a lot of research on them.

| ![]() I have two yorkies. Maverick who is 4 has a docked tail and Remington who is just a little over 1 has a full tail. When I went to get Remington the breeder said that he didn't feel comfortable docking the puppies tails. I must admit, I didn't know how I felt about it because I had only ever seen Yorkies with docked tails. At this point in time, I couldn't imagine Remy any other way. He is so proud of his tail and wags it constantly. I don't know that I would ever get another yorkie with a docked tail, especially since I have looked into how it is done. AND....in many countries docking of tails and cropping of ears in now illegal. I must admit, I love my little tail wagger. As far as dewclaws, my little one was born with double dewclaws on one foot. The vet removed that one at the same time he was neutered because it was getting getting caught on things and was a nuisance. Both of the boys have their other dewclaws intact. |
