I love the docked look. Mine like to play rough, I can bet if they had tails they would have been injured or broken by now. It is a personal decision and I don't think one way is better than another so why should docking not be allowed?
One of my pups was born with a broken tail. Docking it removed the broken part. Some yorkies really do have thin fragile tails that could break easily but others have thicker tails where that wouldn't be a problem.
A quick FYI on cropping ears in Dobermans, it isn't done just for cosmetic purposes. It is also done for sound location. When there ears are cropped, they can move their ears to locate the sound better. A doberman with cropper ears can localize the source of a sound to within a 5 degree cone, whereas a drop earred dog can only localize a sound source to within a 20 degree cone. Considering the working field the doberman is in, this is important and why their ears were cropped in the first place.
I plan to get a doberman in the future, with cropped ears, so I've done a lot of research on them. |
