| Twinkles seems to be in early labor, starting with restlessness at bedtime, unable to get comfortable -- then she definitely had that wide-eyed look like "what the heck is going on back there?". Sche wanted off the bed, so I picked her up and carried her into the room where her whenlipng box was and put her in it. She immediately ran out and pooped loose stools in several different places. I had blocked off the kitchen and family room so she couldn't hide anywhere. Starting about every 30 minutes and now every 15 minutes she will jump up and get wide eyed and try to run, evacuating loose stool. The most recent fluid was more clear. In between, she just sits and stares into the corner or at the side of the box (her focal point?). If anyone is awake and reading this, anyand all help or tips are welcome! Wow, that has been a long time... I would call your vet right away... Maybe she is pooping because she has been trying to push the puppy out? When Bella had her babies, she started with the panting then the contractions, I could feel them when I put my hand on her side....can you feel those when she goes poopy? | |

| How long are the contractions lasting? If she is straining for too long she will wear herself out before the pups even arrive. If she is resting still a lot in between the contractions and the contractions aren't lasting long then she should be alright. I would call the vet and let him know how things are going and see what he says.

| If there has been no green discharge I wouldn't worry yet. The green discharge is the result of early uterine placental detachment and may be seen several hours before a bitch produces her first pup. Once the pup is detached and green discharge is observed pup needs to be delivered in a timely manner. If she is straining for four hours or more without a birth you should call a vet. Good luck and keep us posted.

| Congrats to all the new babies and their moms. I appreciate reading about the real things that go on during labor and delivery. I want to know what can go on so I may be better prepared. DC is due with her first litter (mine too) the end of Aug or first of Sept. I have to admit that I am a bit nervous, too. |
