| Question for all you breeders! Hi! I was just wondering.. what do/will you do if you come across a buyer that just gives you a bad vibe or is rude, uneducated.. etc? What if they really want to buy your puppy but you also really dont feel good about letting them buy it? What did/would you say to them? "Sorry I changed my mind, I dont like you anymore"? Just curious as to how a situation like this would be handled! |

| buyer I never sold the same day I met a buyer...they came at 8 weeks and I could tell by the end of the visit if I was going to contact them back...I asked for a vet reference as to how they took care of previous pets..that worked great because if a buyer haven't taken their in for regular health and dental they never got back to me with the vets letter. I have had people I could not get out of my house...so I had to change my way of doing things...I gave a one hour appt...and then told them I had grooming appts. One family stayed 4 hrs and that was the day I rethought it all. It is things like this that cause a breeder to burn out...I always allowed visits to see the puppy once a deposit was put down..I must intimiate people because once I changed my rules..no one called the shots, but me. If a deposit was given and for some reaosn I changed my mind, I had that agreement with the buyer at the start..."If for any reason I feel the puppy is not suitable for you and your family, I have the right to return the deposit"..and it worked both ways..I also gave the buyer the right to change their mind, no questions asked..this does not work for everyone, but it did and still does for me ...of course if you are a volume breeder it gets very hard to do this... | That is a really interesting question, Catrina. If you don't mind can I add on by asking what are the deal breakers for you? |

| i think i will go about it the same way this time. our biggest problem in my area is PETA. they will come to my home (which is fine.....I DON'T KNOW THEY ARE WITH PETA UNTIL THEY LEAVE) they will bring their whole family and stay for about three hours playing with the puppies, asking lots lots lots of questions, look around my home and they leave giving me a card with PETA on it. it is fine if they want to ck me out but don't stay at my home or lie to me stating you are interested in a puppy. with my last litter i had three come by my home **** remember, my area is where peta was taking animals from aspca and vet offices and killing them and dumping them in dumpsters**** i have nothing to hide but i am going to make a rule "1 hour"

one of their regional offices is here in norfolk and there are alot of employees of PETA here. they ck you out, which is fine, to make sure you don't have more than the state requirment of dogs in the home (4). if you do have more than 4, you are fined 10k for each dog over this.

| if you have more than 4, you have to get a license. it is ok to have puppies as long as you are selling them. most states have a requirment of how many pets you can own.

| Makes me glad I live out here in the country. I doubt PETA could find me out here in the woods. I don't like the idea of people lying so that they can spy on me here in my own home. If they want to do an inspection all they have to do is say so. In Gloucester you don't have to have a kennel license unless you have 15 or more dogs. At least that's what I was told. If I don't feel good about a potential home for my babies I simply tell them I'm sorry, I don' t feel that this is going to work out.

That is actually unconstitutional!! You have the right to privacy and they do not have the right to "inspect or search" your home under false pretenses or without your permission unless they have a court ordered warrant! Now if a neighbor complained that you had more pets than legally allowed, wouldn't they call the Dog Warden??? Not PETA???
