I wonder if we had a puppy in the car!:D That looked like the typical water sack Ive seen with birth, it appears and usually its there up to 1-1 1/2 hrs before puppies are born. Its like the membrane encasing around all the puppies, it appears then later ( sometimes up to 1 1/2 hrs) the actual individual sac encasing the puppy appears. The water sac is firm but soft, but the next sack you see will be hard because it has a puppy:) I saw this post and started reading and felt like I was right there watching you all helping mom with whelping. Exciting. The pictures are good too! Maybe graphic for some....lol.....but excellent for learning. Cant wait to hear about the puppies and mom, and Im hoping she didnt need a C section.:( . |
I read the thread and was expecting to hear about pups and seeing pics right about now too! I pray everything went well and they are OK! ;) |
Lacy's Mom - You are wonderful! I started following this thread last night and you are great - so calm and reassuring. I can't wait to hear how things are this morning. I pray there are healthy puppies and a glowing Mommy today! |

Gosh I hope all is ok Trinis mommy please let us Know soon I am worried. Bless your heart I know how scared you were. I am still praying for you all. |
I hope that Trini is okay. That looked like a water sac to me. I know that with Gracie, once the sac breaks, pup is usually there within 5 minutes. Praying for you guys! We need an update! |
following this thread hi i have been reading this thread and the sac that was there was ok as my dog she had a sac there and i popped it then there was nothing and about 5 minutes later there was a pup so every thing seemed to be ok... hope every goes well... |
I can't wait to hear how mom and pups are! |
No update yet? I hope all is well with Mommy and babies........ |
Bless you and your little girl I hope all are doing fine today...sitting on pins and needles waiting for an update:( |
I never pop the bubble/sac until at least the pup is out. So far so good in the past. So you guys always pop that first bubble? I have had double sacked pups before. It just takes more work to open another sac but pups have alwasy been okay. Anyone else? I wonder what that means forsure? I heard one time that meant the mom/pups were very healthy during the time when the sack was being made. Who knows? I hope all is well! T. |
I don't usually break the sack either until the pup is all the way out, but this one was very, very slow in progressing. I think it was less than an inch from the opening for close to 2 hours and then partially hanging out for almost an hour for many more contractions (usually one or two is all it takes at that point). I was afraid it might be hung up and needed a little gently pulling and felt it would be safer if she could she what she was grasping. She kept saying she saw a yellow bag inside the first bag which I couldn't see in the pictures and still don't know what she could have been describing. |
No I have never broke the water bag. I time labor after it (water bag) appears. I note the girl is in labor before that. but I start timing after the black water bag. No longer then 2 hrs. I give max 2 hrs after it appears for a a puppy bag/sack............if not GO TO the VET. That is after checking the vulva after the water bag breaks, for another sack. And that means up close. Checking the vulva, for any membrane, bulging, legs, nose .................use a flashlight if you have to! Laceys mom...........I think u did A wonderful job.........and were an excellent supporter.:) This girl may have very well needed a C section. |

Awww, I\'m so sorry that two pups didn\'t make it:( I\'m glad that you took her in, you saved her life, I\'m sure! Keep a close watch on her, now. I hope they told you what to watch for, cuz I don\'t really know. I\'m sure that some breeder folks will help you with that, though. Thanks for popping in, we were all getting anxious:love: |
