Kermi and Bruno are cute names. Looks like he is trying so hard bless his lil heart. is mom getting better with them? I do like Lucky as a name for the lil guy. |
Ouch, that once pic that shows Mom's incision and staples makes you realize why she might not want to be with them too much at this point. Poor baby! I hope she heals quickly. |

Mom is taking better to them when we are there to help. She won't on her own yet. I hope she feels better soon too. She looks like she is weak off and on and she is doing some panting like she's hot. She likes the milk supp but won't drink too much water. I think she might be a little dehydrated but I do not know what to do I keep tring to feed her the water but she won't drink more than a fe licks... |
Try low sodium chicken broth - she really needs the fluids to produce milk. |
I've just read this entire post. Wow it reads like a soap opera. I found it very educational. Thanks to all of you who contributed. I realize that when the puppies are coming your hands are busy, but perhaps one of you experienced breeders could have someone else record a birth and post it on that utube (sp) site. Trini's Mom. I wish you the best fo luck with your little ones. If you lose the little guy it certainly won't be because you didn't try. Lacy's Mom, it was so wonderful of you to stay up all night with her. |

Check to see if the pups nails are long, they are pretty sharp when they start growing. Be sure to give her calcium suppliments daily. I gave my girl cheese, goats milk, cottage cheese and tums.... really whatever she would take and she still ended up with eclampsia. Just be very careful, it comes on very quick. I still give her 1/2 a tums in the morning and 1/2 tums at night even though she isnt able to nurse anymore. |
<<<they would not begin operating until they had all the money>>>> First thing I would do is CHANGE VETS .... that person had NO right to yell at you ... I know I wld have been passive also b/c i would have been so scared for the mom .... but these "vets" need more than bedside manner! Gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! |

I appreciate everyone for following and imput and help...Thank you all so much! |
Congratulations on the new pups. Trini and babies are adorable. Im so sorry 2 didn't make it. I will have them in my prayers, RIP :littleang . I hope that the little boy that has fluid in his lungs makes it. Trini and you have done an awesome job. I can believe the experience you had at the vet. When Gucci ate rat poison the er vet wouldnt see her until i pay. It is so sad when money comes first to care. |

Trini's mom, just wanted to say you're doing a wonderful job and are on your way to becoming a great breeder. What a harsh emotional experience this must have been for you. I admire you for keeping it together. The babies are beautiful. |
The picture of Trini with the babies nursing is precious! Poor thing, with her staples! The little guy looks like he's latched on really well in the picture by himself. You've done such a great job with the delivery and aftercare, I wouldn't have known what to do at all or where to start. (The reason my Lucy is spayed:p ) Lacy's Mom is truly a wonderful person to help you like she did. I am in awe of you both for your combined efforts. Good luck with your babies and I hope Trini feels better soon. |
Quick Update... :p This morning Trini and babies are doing well. They fed twice last night and once this morning and I am supplementing them about every 2-4 hours, depending on how long they ate for before. The little boy is now weighing in at 3.65oz which makes me think I weighed him incorrectly yesterday or he is loosing a little weight (he is eating pretty good though) and the big boy is at 4.75, he is such an aggressive litle eater. I will post more pics later today. Thank you all!:p |
Thanks for the update! Happy to hear all is well this morning. Continue weighing, I usually weigh a "weak" one 3 times a day to get a more accurate picture. Their weights will be your best indication that everything is fine and they are eating enough. |

Wow~!!!!!!! :p ~ I am so happy right now!!!! I had to leave the house for two hours, so before I left I bottle fed both the little boys, mind you I have been rotating puppies on mom and on bottle every other feeding. We all left the house and ran some errands for two hours and when we got back Trini was in the box with the babies  , they are both latched on and eating and she is cleaning them too. Trini has not been in the box with them since the morning after we got home!! Wow, wow, wow is all I can say! :p She really is a momma now! Sigh of relief! |

The news just keeps getting better and better. I would also try not to supplement anymore because the more you supplement the less milk Mom will produce. Of course, you are the one that is there and knows the most of what is going on so you'll know if it's necessary or not. Thanks so much for keeping us all updated and letting us share in your joys (and sorrows). |

BTW I also wanted to say a WOW for lacy's mom For all she did. I wanted to stay up also but I knew she was in good hands. You did a great job, BOTH of you and new mama too :) |
:p Thank you all... I hope it continues to get better! |
Wow I just read your post .. What you went through  . Dealing with the Vet, losing 2 babies, your female being spayed, the trouble with your little guy.. But I'm so happy to hear things are getting better for you. Mom is ok..nursing babies and your the little boy sound like he is getting stronger.. I wish you well ( HUGS to you, momma and the babies) |
Ah, Trini is figuring it out! Bless her heart, it just took a little time. She's gonna be a great Mommy! |
hi trin hun i am so sorry for all the happened to you hun, personally i would sue that vet clinic for all the happened to you!!!!!. second try this and see if it helps mom to stay in there i had that same problem my dixie wouldnt stay in box much either so my hubby cut a hole in one side with a lip about 4 inches high from bottom big enough for her to crawl in and out of and that worked dixe starting staying in there more. i also put her fodd and water bowls right outside the box so it was handy for her.. i my hubby and i both left the room dixie would follow and whine so when we both were out of bedroom we brought box and all in front room with us and now we dont have to do that but for the first week or so we did... btw hun u are doing a great job hun keep up the good work |
This touched my heart! Oh how this touched me and brought back memories from two weeks ago when we lost our Ponytail Polly and one of her babies! The three survivors, Rudolph, Holly, and Noel are doing great at 2 weeks and are so cute..will post pix again soon as long as I am not in the shots cause I look like I have had a c section...bottle feeding them every 2 hours week one and now every 3 hours has really been tough but they are worth every minute of lost sleep! The posts/pix were so similar to what we went thru, I was on the edge of my chair and my nerves were shot before I got to the end. One thing I have realized, after years of dealing with vets; they are not in the profession for the love of animals but for the love of $$$. Before I get slammed for this remark...not All..there are exceptions to the rule. I cant imagine this hospital holding up a needed surgery for CASH after all that Momma had been thru, and the cost was over the top too (again my opinion only and we all know; opinions are like @ssholes...everyone has one) but I am in the Midwest where everything is less than on the coasts so... However the bottom line is that had the money not been available they would have sent that family out the door to face the consequences of an inevitable death! Great job from the midwives too! Keep us posted! |

no fluid We really didnt have any problems with fluid except every now and then when they were first learning to drink from the bottle; small amounts came bubbling out their little noses but I would pull the bottle away and suck out the fluid best I could. They are stronger than one would think, maybe your little one will get better each day...just keep an eye on him and let Mom do her best to feed him. Yes, we lost the mom and one baby was still born; the water sac presented but after 45 minutes of no progress I took her to the vet, he said she had a very small pelvis for her size of 5.5 lbs. The babies were 4.0 4.5 5.0 and 5.5 she just couldnt have them. She died about 14 hours after the surgery, we dont know why but she never snuggled, licked, them and just barely looked their way...she was sicker than I knew. I felt really awful as breeding was my idea! You might want to lay him head down when he is sleeping, anything to get that fluid out. (This is what they do immediately after c sections to get the fluid out of the lungs, not sure if it would help but dont think it would hurt??) Good luck and hang in there! |
