Awww poor baby I bet any minute you'll have a pup. Your doing Great Trini and Trinis mom too.... |
Walking is good for her it will help the labor progress faster. |
She is so cute! In between her contractions she lays and falls asleep for a few minutes and there she goes again walking briskly around the room like shes looking for something... I am glad to know it os good for her! |
She's probably just conserving her energy. In an early post you said her vulva was swollen - are you seeing a bulge at the vulva and the area between the tail and the vulva? |

That bulge is the baby. Do you have any KY Jelly if so, very gently lubricate just inside the vulva. Are her contractions strong, like she is hunching up to defecate? |
her belly get really hard like it turns nto two sections almost...she is squatting down but more to pee pee just a dot with each one...she just finished another contraction |
ohh how exciting congratulations...well...soon lol |
Note the time that you feel "hard labor", forceful contractions began. |
Do you feel that her contractions are strong enough? With one right at the door it shouldn't take too many contractions to see a sac (sometimes they do come out and then go back in). |
Oh I am so Excited I need to get to sleep but I can't till I know Trini is ok and all is going good. Come on trini I know you can do it. I am praying for you. |
12 minutes since your last post - I bet your a grandma now! If not, is she still looking around nervously during contractions - it feels like they need to defecate and a well house-trained dog might fight the urge and delay labor. |
Ooops... I just realized I did not get unwaxed dental floss. Is it madatory to tie the puppies cords? or could she just take over that part and if she doesn't take over and I need to cut the cord would it harm the puppy if I did not tie it. I have waxed dental floss or sewing string... She had a fourth contraction since 7:29pm just now at 7:51pm...Just before her contraction I lubricated the inside of her vulva with KY. The tip of my figer just went right in, no straining or anything:confused: Thank you all again. I feel like you are all right here with us and helping. I do not know what I would do without this forum right now... |
I forgot to click post on that last one...she went 7:51pm, 7:58pm then 8:05pm...still no puppies...they seem pretty hard but it is my first time delivering puppies and I could be wrong. But for sure they are contractions and she is still in her "routine" I mentioned earlier. I will post a pic of her in 1 minute... Thank you all again! |
Contractions usually come in waves of three or five and then a resting period before they start again. If you don't feel that her contractions are strong enough try barely inserting your fingertip (no nails) and tickling the top of her vagina (called feathering) this will strengthen the contractions. Do you have a pair of hemostats - dental floss is really hard to use, everything is so slippery. There is no rush in tying off the cord (my daughter just had a baby and did what they call a lotus birth where you leave the placenta attached and let it fall off naturally, gross, but no problems). Anyway, back on subject. Clean the airway with a bulb syringe before even worrying about the cord - dont place the baby's lungs below the head until you do this and breathing is not gurgly sounding. You can just pinch the cord about an inch for a minute or two, then cut with dull scissors, not sharp, it's actually better to tear it. My moms actually do all of this on their own, but you do risk an over eager Mom chewing it too close. |
Hope it's not too graphic...I bet it is sorry... 2 Attachment(s) Another contraction 8:12pm and she did the thing like she was gonna poop for about 2 seconds... Here is a pic of her resting before the contraction... |
aww shes so cute I don't know anyrthing about breeding but i'm following your story.. |
No hemostats, no string but i have a small pair of dull scissors and I will pinch the cord and then just cut??? Do you suggest I let her do it and just keep an eye on her? Also, she had 7 contractions in a row...about a 15 minute break and now 8:26pm another. She just keeps circling the room with every one. I am so sory I am babbling. She is now resting again. |
Pinch and hold for a minute or two before cutting - dull scissors will work, but tearing is better if you can, the more "unclean the cut - jagged" the better because it will stop the bleeding. You could always just pinch it about one inch and see if Mom will chew it off. I let mine eat one placenta because I feel it stimulates milk production, but any more gives them diarrhea. That bulge is really big - keep her walking as much as possible in case the baby is hung up and needs repositioning. |

Can you see any movement in the bulge? Do you think by looking at the size that it could be two puppies trying to present at once? |
Do you have any rubber gloves? You might need to insert a finger and see if you can determine what is going on - you might be able to feel the two different sacks if that is the case. Any fluids leaking out at all? About how far is the bulge from the opening? |
Softer Contractions... She had 1 softer cotraction 8:38pm followed by another hard contraction 8:44pm. The buldge in kina soft though...should it be? When I feather I tickle towards the tail or away from it?? |
Oops I did not see those last 2 posts...the bulge looks smaller now...like she sat in a funny position and it was just smaller all of the sudden...the buldge was about 1 inch from her opening (above it towards tail). I have gloves...no fluid leaking or anything. Still an occasional tinkle with most contractions Earlier I saw movement between her hind leg and spine at het tail... |
Feathering is at the top of the vulva when in an upright position away from the tail. Definitely try feathering - I have never had one that close take so long to finish coming. |
Maybe it was two sacks and one has hopefully pushed it's way in front of the other. |
Another Contraction  Really strong this time. I could see she was walking with her tail lower than her back like she was pushing...buldge is back. Tummy is moving and buldge is gona again...she just walked into her whelping box and layed straight down????? |
Uh oh...her little tinkles with each contraction do not smell like pee pee...should I worry? It is only a few drops with each contraction... |
How far are you from an emergency vet? This pup might be too big for her to pass. Keep feathering and see if she just needs stronger contractions, but I would be considering taking her in at this point because of her size. Does she appear to be in any pain? |
Buldge... 1 Attachment(s) okay...I wish something different would happen already, lol...Buldge is back. I took another pic, look... She is resting in her box still... |
