| Oh Im so sorry.........how frantic you must feel. One suggestion I would make is Do you have a Kennel cage? I dont think I would allow mommie to have free run of the house. I think you might have better luck putting her in an enclosed area with puppies so she cant run. But you would have to stay right there! Try to sooth her, calm her in the enclosed area and then begin putting a puppy in one at a time. |

| I am not an experienced breeder, but had my 1st litter in June, and I did find and read that the more she nurses, the more her instincts would kick in. My Mommy didn't want to stay with her babies at the beginning either, but I held her down and put the puppies on her to nurse, and she did lie there. Then the more she nursed, the more she wanted to. My Vet also told me to take her bed out of the area and keep her in an enclosed area with the pups so that she would be more encouraged to rest with them and keep them warm, and that is just what she did. After 24 hours, we had to force her to leave them to go outside and then she would run right back to them. I also know the pups will cry if they are cold. I know you said you have a warming lamp, just make sure that it is not too warm or too cold. TRY to have her nurse them, but don't leave them alone, since you don't know how she will react. I did let the Mommy eat a Placenta, but not all of them, I was told it would help their instincts kick in, and we had a very successful litter! Good luck and if there is anythign else I can do to help let me know! |

| I just wanted to add I had a female do this without a c section, ran in circles, scared to death of the puppy. I supplemented the puppy just a few times. I just enclosed mommy, petted her, talked to her, then would put puppy in, she would get a bit frantic again, after a few minutes I took puppy out.........after a few hours she did come around. I just kept trying, finally she did allow me to get the puppy to nurse. It felt like 5 days worth of work!!! She then did okay. Good luck!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! |

Autumn did the same thing when she had her first litter. She didn't have a c-section though. We took the puppies out of Autumn's bed and my husband held them while I coaxed Autumn to lay down. I petted her for several minutes until she was calm. Then we put one puppy with her. She started to get up but we kept talking to her in a soothing voice and petting her to let her know everything was ok. Once the first puppy was latched on we put the second puppy with her. We just kept petting her and talking to her and telling her what a good girl she was and what a good mommy she was. Once we were comfortable that she wouldn't leap out of the basket we covered her and the puppies with her blanket. By the next morning she wouldn't leave and she didn't even want us to TOUCH her blanket! She was all snuggled with her babies and happy. Congratulations on your four new babies and goodluck with getting Mama to settle down with them! Keep us updated!

| confine the mom in a small area that she can not get out of...then hold the mom down and get those puppies to latch on and keep a hold of the mom praising and petting her for doing what you ask...KEEP HER CONFINED! You will lose these pups if not...get rid of that heat lamp, place heat pad under the crate only on half on the lowest temp...your pups should be feed every 2-3 hours for about the first week or two depending on weight gain.

| I agree with Kimberly 100%. Also, after you bottle feed, make sure you burp them. That could be why one of them is crying. Her tummy might be upset. And like another poster said, use a warm, wet cottonball and stimulate them to go potty after they eat. Most importantly though, get them with their Mom!

| My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | How are they doing????? Make sure you stimulate them in their privates so that they releive them selves. The mom normally does this my licking them. You can use a warm damp cloth. I too have been bottle feeding one pup (for different reasons) since it was born. I found that the pet bottles were useless. Go buy a gerber PRE MEE bottle. The nipple is very soft and easy for them to grap and suck on. I got mine at Target. Please make sure your using something stating its has mothers first miilk. VERY important that the babies recieve the antibiotics found in the mothers first few days of milk. Are they able to latch on yet? Please update us. |
