My Vet also told me to take her bed out of the area and keep her in an enclosed area with the pups so that she would be more encouraged to rest with them and keep them warm, and that is just what she did. After 24 hours, we had to force her to leave them to go outside and then she would run right back to them.

I also know the pups will cry if they are cold. I know you said you have a warming lamp, just make sure that it is not too warm or too cold. TRY to have her nurse them, but don't leave them alone, since you don't know how she will react. I did let the Mommy eat a Placenta, but not all of them, I was told it would help their instincts kick in, and we had a very successful litter!

Good luck and if there is anythign else I can do to help let me know!

Autumn did the same thing when she had her first litter. She didn't have a c-section though. We took the puppies out of Autumn's bed and my husband held them while I coaxed Autumn to lay down. I petted her for several minutes until she was calm. Then we put one puppy with her. She started to get up but we kept talking to her in a soothing voice and petting her to let her know everything was ok. Once the first puppy was latched on we put the second puppy with her. We just kept petting her and talking to her and telling her what a good girl she was and what a good mommy she was. Once we were comfortable that she wouldn't leap out of the basket we covered her and the puppies with her blanket. By the next morning she wouldn't leave and she didn't even want us to TOUCH her blanket! She was all snuggled with her babies and happy.

Congratulations on your four new babies and goodluck with getting Mama to settle down with them! Keep us updated!
