| Two Studs??????? I have not planned on getting another male because i have ceeby to breed to my two, soon to be three gals. I have a chance to get another male. He is one and half year sold. Silky coat (I think0, black and gold. he is the stud I am planning to brred Silk to the first time. His owner is a good griend of my hubbys . He is letting me breed for free. Well, he told me last night he is going to sell him as soon as I breed Silk. The little guy is lifting his leg, they keep him in the utility room most of the time. They both work. They feel they cannot give him the attention and care he nees. I know just recently, they had to have him shaved down because of all the mats. He will be resonably priced or maybe even free for me. he owes my hubby money for beagles. How would two studs get along? I have heard not so good. This little guy weighs about three or three and a half pounds but is stockier than ceeby. ceeby is built extremely fragile and I don't want him hurt. Should I or not? As far as I know he has no famous bloodlines but I haven't seen his pedigree and I am finding out that most people here have no idea what they've got. he was sold to these people as a "toy". Of course we know there is no such thing. I am really not set up for four dogs but i kind of hate to pass him by. My dogs are gated in my living room. They sleep lined up on the couch and a kid's rabbit chair. They all drink and eat from the same dish. I have a HUGE fenced in yeard for them to play inb. They are pad trained when they can't get outside. i first said, no, I don't need him, then i got to thinking. you know how it is with yorkies. You can't have juast one, or two or three LOL. |

| two studs in the same house can be difficult specially with three girls. The boys go crazy with the thought of a bitch in heat losing all good behavior, many times they will fight over the bitch, whimper continuously and mark everything in sight. The only reason I placed Cappie, he and Buster constantly went head, I had to keep both separated at all times for their own safety. Some will get along famously until a bitch is in heat, then all bets are off and the bad behavior begins. JMHO

| studs In all the years I groomed Yorks, I never had to shave a silk coat to demat it. I may have had to snip out a few knots and use a lot conditioner and elbow grease, but the knots in a silk coat come out failry easily. Now, the mats in a cotton coat have to be shaved out..so check to make sure he what you think he is...and owning two studs is a pain in the butt...big time pain..even when they get along like my males did, they peed on each other all the time..I bathed the males 3 times as often as the girls...and their bedding was changed almost daily..oh, I forgot, they peed in their water bowls also..and on the toys..infact they peed on my shoes if I stood still too long in their play area... |

| Sugar's Mom- Sounds like 2 studs would be a pain in the butt, but why not if they give him to you for free take him and either neutered or not and find him another home. Might be easy here on YT. If you take him you can be sure he finds a good home,

| studs There is no need for Ceeby to pee in his water dish, there is no other male intact around...some like to make sure everyone knows what stuff is theirs... I used to spend hours cleaning the kennel, washing beds, and bathing dogs...then I would put the males back in their room...they would go around peeing on the beds, then the water dish, toys and pads..and lastly each other..a days work gone in 15 minutes..LOL |

| Update Well, my husband informed me yesterday (while i was away for the day that he had seen this little guy and he looks like one of his beagles. LOL. No, really, he said I wouldn't like him because he has floppy ears so he told the guy we didn't want him. i know that this guy told me a few months ago that his ears were erect and he was a little smaller than Silk and had her black and gold coloring. I was going to breed her to him. My husband said he showed him a picture of the dog and he had large, heavy floppy ears. My husband knows I won't have a dog with floppy ears (I want to breed to the standard). The owner said he didn't know it makes a difference so of course, my hubby told him all about the difference. In order to see the humor in this post you have to know my husband and the fact that he is a breeder of beagles for many years and thinks you can treat little yorkies the same way. He has learned from ME. So, I suppose Silk will be bred to Ceeby altho i didn't want to the first time. I want to keep a female of Silk's for myself to breed to Ceeby later because of both their bloodlines. i guess i will just have to buy me another little female now to raise up for Ceeby instead of Silk's baby. I have another little girl growing up right now. She is almost seven months but i want three females to breed. |

| I have two older studs and they pretty much always fight each other. They are competing for mates and I couldnt have two if I couldnt separate them. They also compete for our attention and if you let them together they are okay for awhile until you go to give affection and they will fight. Everything is a competition with these lil guys. They didnt grow up together but Im not sure it would make a difference with them. Good luck! |
