I have to be honest, i love my puppy and am happy i bought her, after learning all that I did after the fact, next puppy i would go directly to a breeder, but the concern is that there seem to be issues and problems everywhere you go. It is hard to know where and who to trust. As for the other woman that bought at S & V, I would love to see a pic someday! I'm sure your little one is SO cute and sweet! We went to the vet this morning for Winnie's rabie's shot, vet said Winnie is doing greats she gained 20% of her weight in the past 2 weeks, 9 oz, which my vet said means she is happy with her new home and adjusting well. As for her age, the vet said that her teeth should fall out at 16 weeks and that is the only real way to tell how old they are. He said that she looked about the right age 15 weeks due to her coordination, she weights 2lbs 10oz and he said she should be 6lbs fully grown. That is what I expected! I am still caught on the ears though---i will love her anyway she ends up, BUT i love them down He said that until 6 months, they really could stay down and then one day just pop up! So we have another 2 months to see what happens I guess! Would still love to hear from anyone that bought from S & V in w/a birthday of 2/6/07 w/a father littlest boy bleau and mom little penny! Training going well...she can sit and give her paw as of yesterday!! She is better at doing it when there is not a treat involved..as soon as she sees the treat, she looses her concentration
I have A LOT of experience with S&V. They DO get their dogs from puppy mills. My 3 came from mills (but I only found out AFTER I had already bought them). I always though they came from private family breeders (that's what Ivan and his wife Cathie, who has since passed away, told me). But they lied to me and many others.

I know MANY people who bought dogs from Ivan and most of them didn't show any signs of illness until they were older (not all, but most). My Katie was one of the ones who got sick when she was just over 1 year old (kidney disease) and let me tell you when I went to Ivan hysterical crying with the blood test results, he didn't give a sh*t. He tried to push me and Jim out of the store because he was afraid customers would come in while we were there and he would lose a sale because they would hear from me how he sold us a sick and dying baby. Ivan is all sweet when you're buying a dog but that day he was a rotten, cruel man who honestly could have cared less about my dying little angel.

I do not want to go into more detail because it brings back VERY painful memories of losing my precious Katie but if you want to talk abother member about the dog she lost from S&V, ask Fran. She lost her precious Sammi to liver disease.

That being said, I'm VERY happy your dog is healthy and I hope she stays that way. She sounds like a little doll baby. I wish you both the best of luck and a long and happy future together. These little ones are such a joy.

I've also seen Poodles, Shiba Inus, German Shepherds and Poms. He can literally get ANY dog you want within 1 week. He told me that himself.

I hope for the new posters here that god blesses them and their babies stay healthy. I know what the bills can look like when you get a sickly dog.

Good luck to you all with your new babies. The deed is done now so the only thing you can do is enjoy them and maybe to be on the safe side get pet insurance or put aside a little savings account for the just in case.

How did you find out they were from Puppy Mills and if they are, how are they still in business? I love my puppy and spent quite a bit on her. Do you have any recommondations other then wait and see? The vet said she was really healthy...what you wrote is REALLY freaking me out. It is going to be rough having this little one and constantly worried that something is going to happen to her. It has been 3 weeks and I am BEYOND BEYOND attached to her.

It's funny becuase he told me the same thing. When you go in there the first thing he asks you is what type of dog are you looking for and how much are you willing to spend...lol. Then he decides what dogs are in your price range.

I'm sorry. My intention wasn't to freak you out or make you a nervous wreck.

I hate to say it but it isn't illegal to own and operate OR to buy from puppy mills. Puppy millers are USDA licensed and pretty much allowed to churn out puppies by the thousands. Many of them pay off the inspectors coming to visit their kennels and lie about the conditions the dogs are forced to live in. It's EXTREMELY hard to close down a puppy mill. If it were easy to shut them down, they wouldn't be around anymore because there are so many rescues and dog groups against them.

Ivan is a broker (meaning he buys dogs from random places and sells them at his store). He doesn't breed them. But Ivan can (and he will even tell you this ... in fact, he BRAGS about it) get ANY dog for you within 1-2 weeks, any age, any gender. If you think about it in a logical way, how can be POSSIBLY have access to ANY breed of dog, ANY gender, ANY age, within a moment's notice if he is simply a hobby breeder? So let's say he gets 20 customers who want a German Shepherd, 30 who want a Yorkie, 15 who want a Maltese and 10 who want a Pomeranian, he can get them ALL dogs within 2 weeks. NO breeder I know or ever heard of can produce dogs that fast ... but Ivan can. Where does he get all those dogs from and at such great speed?

After I lost my precious Katie, I had Codie, Katie and Tia traced (through their AKC papers and their parents). To make a very looooong story short, all 3 came from different mills in Missouri (PUPPY MILL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!!) I was beyond devestated to learn this. I always think about my poor dog's mama dog trapped in some cage, covered in feces and urine. It just about breakes my heart.

Your dog may be ok in the long run. I'm not saying EVERY SINGLE DOG he sells is sick or going to be sick. I'm just telling about my own personal experience and a few experiences from people I know. Just because I had 3 bad experiences doesn't mean you will.

The only possible advice I could give you about your baby is (if this is really making you nervous), have the vet run a full blood panel (in particular BUN and CREAT levels), chest and heart x-rays, test for liver shunt and anything else you or your vet can think of but sadly some of these problems don't show themselves until a dog is older. Like anything in life, it's a gamble.

I had no idea Katie was sick until she starting losing weight and pooping blood. We rushed her to the vet and by that time, she was beyond saving. She only had a few months left to live and Jim and I spent THOUSANDS in medical bills, not to mention I was an emotional wreck and cried at the drop of a hat all the time. We took Katie to many vets and specialists (we went as fair as Pennsylvania to a specialist to try and save her) but it just wasn't in god's plan. My poor baby was so sick and so thin, she was practically emaciated. And she pooped blood every day. It killed me to watch her dying slowly and know that all my love and money and toys and treats and clothes and time devoted to her and everthing I've EVER done for her just wouldn't cut it, it wouldn't be enough to save her. I had no control over this and it nearly killed me.

Katie died one day before my mother. Katie was killed in a freak car accident. I feel like everything happened that day for a reason. If Katie wasn't killed that day, my whole family would have went to work that Monday and my mom would have been home alone when she had a heart attacked. At least we were with her and we did CPR until the ambulance arrived. So we know in our hearts that there was nothing we could have done to save my mom. If Katie didn't die the day before, we all would have went to work and my father would have found my mom dead when he got home tha day. I would have spent the rest of my life wondering WHAT IF we were there, could we have saved her? Could we have done CPR or something else to save her? But I guess it wasn't meant to be. So I lost my 2 loves, my mom and my Katie. I just know in my heart that Katie is my mom's guardian angel.

Sorry to get so off-topic but for me to tell you about Katie, I felt I should tell the whole story.

That being said, I'm sure everything will work out for you. I wish you and your little girl ALL THE BEST OF LUCK and happiness in the future.

Jen would never post to scare anyone & she's giving you very good advise. She's had alot of experience with Ivan ....

We're all glad you have a healthy dog - no one would ever want anything but that - but ...maybe you didn't realize the whole story about S&V. As long as I've been here I haven't heard very many good things about them at all. I know Jen did alot of research into this place and she used to think the same way you do ...We WANT to believe people when we're buying a puppy that what they say is true about their operations - but the sad truth is - with that many breeds and dogs - there's just no way he breeds himself and Jen has the paperwork to prove it. It would be so bad for his business if he was honest and up front and said "HECK yes - I get all my dogs from puppy mills" although I wish it was a law they HAD to disclose that. It's not and ANYONE can buy dogs from a mill

Petland is a prime example of that and the biggest Puppy Mill customer out there. and THEY don't tell people that fact either.

You know V, that's the really sad part. I use to RAVE about Ivan. I bragged to anyone and everyone who would listen to me. God, if only I knew then what would happen to my angel, I never would have opened my mouth. If you do a search under my older posts, you'll see a lot of them bragging about Ivan and what HEALTHY dogs I had. Boy was I a fool. I feel foolish for ever bragging about him (even though some really wonderful breeders here on YT told me to keep an eye on my dogs because something could happen to them in the future). I just laughed off their warnings. I thought so highly of Ivan and that nothing bad would ever happend to my babies (especially because I use to live around the corner from Ivan growing up, so I felt like I knew him). I really lived to eat my words in the worst possible way.

I'm almost positive a lot of people got their dogs from Ivan because on my recommendation and I feel SO terrible and guilty for ever complimenting him and his business. I just pray that their dogs don't suffer the way my Katie did.

I know and remember. and don't feel bad. You posted what you thought to be true at the time and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think he was good to you when he thought you were a 'Possible' repeat customer but when you really needed him ...he kicked you & Katie to the curb and that speaks VOLUMES about him as a person.

Thank you for posting them. Those are my 2 favorite pictures of Katie kissing her daddy. Jim can't even look at them.

I am so sorry to hear your story, it is so sad, she was beautiful and actually looks a lot like my puppy. I really hope that Winnie is ok and after reading all you have wrote, I don't think I would ever go back to S & V.

Thank you. I just want to apologize once more if I scared you. I'm sure everything will work out for you and little Winnie (she sure is a CUTIE).
