My point was there have been times I have bought a dog to show or use in my breeding program that had genetic faults.. When a reputable breeder breeds for a litter of puppies they want to always better what they have.. They never want to use a male or female with genetic faults and they also do not want to show a male or female with genetic faults.. I personally have bought from a few show breeders, one of them sold me a show female with two grade 4 luxating patellas, needless to say that female was spay and placed into a loving pet home near by.. I also have never made money off of my dogs.. If you better what you have, your dogs get excellent care by you and your vet and you do show, you never make money! I am so far in the whole I will never see daylight, lol!! But I love the breed and it has become a wonderful part of my life..

My point too...If someone buys a whole litter of pups keeps them for a few months and decides to only keep one or two of the pups and sells the rest..
at a higher price..would this be a broker???
What about the time,Vet bills, Groomers, Food, Care, and etc.
Would this person expect to get extra money for this? YES.. they would.

First it was once, now it's times...how many times have you purchased defective puppies for sow and resold them...Also, Melanie, I would stop buying pups for a while since they all end up having health problems and needing to be resold. Do you have to tell the new owners about their health issues?

A broker is someone that does it for a living, all the time.. Did this person only do it once or did they keep doing it? If they keep doing it they are a broker..

Okay just a minute! I have been breeding for almost 5 years, did not get into showing until the end of 2004 and that was on a limited basis.. If I have purchased a dog for my program that has genetic faults I do place it, into a loving pet home! I always tell the new owner of the genetic fault with the dog and I am honest person!! For example the female with the two grade 4 luxating patellas I gave $3,000.00 for her and I bought her from a show breeder! Did I make a dime off of her when I placed her, NO! I also paid to have her spay before she left my home! NO money exchanged hands when she was placed into a pet home.. The new owners knew of her problem and we talk on a weekly basis.. They love her and have given her a wonderful home! I do NOT go around purchasing dogs all the time! I have purchased three dogs in the last year and 1/2 and they are living in my home!

If Whispersmom wasn't busy "birthing them babies" she would chime...us dogs people/lovers do some dumb stuff..

I took a friend to see a litter of Maltese and I bought one myself. DId it 3 times... Did the same thing with a Min Pin breeder and...I have done it at least a dozen times going with friends to look at Yorkie litters...most were resold and it took me about 10 years to get control of this impulsive puppy buying habit I used to have..today I looked at a litter of Maltese with a friend and walked away without giving it a second thought. I might add one of the Maltese females became a champion..I totally gave up on her coat..what a nightmare.
