Your Parker is old enough to where he can totally go potty on his own. My Lil Maddie is only 3 weeks old. She is an orphan pup that I am bottle feeding. Newborn puppies need to be stimulated to go poop & pee when they are so young. They are not born with the ability to go on their own. You stimulate them by using a very soft cotton pad with a little warm water on it and gently wipe them in the motion as if the mother were licking. Now that she's 3 weeks old, she has started to go on her own, but I still do a little stimulation now and then since she hasn't been regular with #2. So far, I don't think it's doing much good. She is still not going as I think she should.

Okay, got it. I thought there might be a way to help Parker go, since he hates going out in the cold to poo. He runs quick back inside. He will wind up pooing in his cage, even though I've taken him out a couple times. He just went at 5 pm for the first time today, so he is still not regular, but the test was negative for parasites.

I had to take Lil Maddie to the vet today. She wasn't acting like she was in discomfort, but once again, she didn't go poo for way over 24 hours. The last time she had gone was Tuesday morning. Even though she appeared to be fine and she was eating as usual, I decided it was time to take her. I was up all night worrying about her. Well, she's fine. The vet told me a little trick when I think she is way over due for potty time. Use a glass baby rectal thermometer and apply some KY jelly to it and gently insert (only the tinniest bit) and take it right out. She sure pooped and she didn't even seem to mind in the least. He took a fecal exam to make sure she was clear of parasites. She's all good!

You got to your vet before I read and decided to post the exact same thing. There will be stool on the bulb of the thermometer if there is poo in the hiney.. Also, you can rub a little KY jelly on her hiney-hole to add more lubrication. You have to be careful, as your vet aid, and insert only the bulb part .BTW, if you use a dig Therm, you can do the same thing. They have a little silver-colored tip and that is as far as you push it...The suggestion of NutriCal works...

I'm glad that you have also heard of this tip with the thermometer. I'm hoping I won't have to do it, but I probably will. With the Nutrical...I've been giving her a little on my finger after her feedings. I know it will take some time for it to kick in with helping her to be regular. I've been doing it for a couple of days now, so maybe she'll start to eliminate more regularly soon. I don't know why I didn't ask the vet yesterday (I guess going over so many other things) but at her age (4 wks on Monday) how many times per day is average for them to go #2? At what point should I consider using the thermometer trick?
